The weight of the balls gives them a lot of movement , which gives the appearance that they are going faster. The curves and sliders are the biggest advantage that this machine can give you. It's harder to hit than the real thing, so makse hanging curves look like they are on a tee. A real pitcher can't throw curves or sliders as good as this machine. |

| Answer: | Base does anchor to the ground with plastic pins through holes on the base. Bat is made of foam as are the 4 balls. Center pole that fits into the center of the base is made of hard plastic with a foam top that is about the size of a half dollar to rest the ball. |
