9 best tuner pedal for guitar basses
A tuner pedal for guitars and basses is a crucial piece of equipment for musicians to ensure their instruments are in tune. These devices are commonly used in both live performances and during practice sessions. Here's what you need to know about tuner pedals:
Function: A tuner pedal is designed to help musicians tune their guitars or basses accurately. It works by analyzing the pitch of the instrument's strings and displaying whether they are in tune or need adjustment.
Signal Path: Tuner pedals are typically placed at the beginning of the signal path in a guitarist's effects chain. This is because having a well-tuned instrument is essential for all subsequent effects and sound processing.
Display: Most tuner pedals feature an easy-to-read display that provides visual feedback on the pitch of each string. Common displays include LED lights or LCD screens that indicate whether the note is sharp, flat, or in tune.
Tuning Modes: Tuner pedals can support various tuning modes, such as standard tuning (EADGBE for guitar and EADG for bass) as well as alternate tunings. Some models also support drop tunings or open tunings, catering to different musical styles.
Bypass Function: Many tuner pedals have a bypass function, allowing the signal to pass through the pedal when tuning is not needed. This ensures that the tuner doesn't affect the sound quality when it's not actively engaged.
Accuracy: Tuner pedals are designed to be highly accurate, providing precise tuning information. Some models are known for their speed and sensitivity in picking up the instrument's pitch.
Power Source: Tuner pedals can be powered by various sources, including 9-volt batteries, external power supplies, or via pedalboard power sources. It's essential to consider the power options when integrating the pedal into your setup.
Durability: Given that tuner pedals are often used on stage and in live performance situations, they are built to be durable and withstand the rigors of touring and gigging.
Compatibility: Tuner pedals are suitable for both electric guitars and basses. There are also specialized tuner pedals available for acoustic instruments, which may have additional features like microphone-based tuning.
Brands: Various manufacturers produce tuner pedals, including popular brands like Boss, TC Electronic, Korg, and Peterson, among others. Different models offer various features and designs, so the choice of tuner pedal can depend on personal preferences and needs.
In summary, a tuner pedal for guitars and basses is a critical tool for musicians to ensure accurate tuning of their instruments. It helps maintain pitch precision in live performances and practice sessions, allowing musicians to produce the best possible sound. The choice of a tuner pedal may depend on factors like display type, tuning modes, durability, and compatibility with other gear in a musician's setup.

User questions & answers
Question: | I play in c#f#be on bass. how would you make that the setting to tune to |
Answer: | Set it to chromatic. |
Question: | Is this product adequte for a 10 string pedal steel guitar ? I was told to get a tuner that shows the frequency and I do not see a # on the display |
Answer: | This won't show the frequency in Hertz, but it will indicate pitch, and the 10 string pedal steel should be in its range. There is a dot on the display to indicate a sharp. |
Question: | How does the TU-3 effect a fuzz face if it's placed a couple pedals away after the fuzz ? I assume it has a buffer like most Boss pedals |
Answer: | Put fuzz before this tuner or on a loop switcher or on a volume pedal. Especially true for germanium fuzz devices and certain other types of dirt pedals. The Waza version of the TU-3 has a switch that makes it true bypass. If you understand what I'm saying about fuzz pedals then you definitely want that. That said, it's a very good buffer, but it will interact with fuzz pedals in a pretty annoying way. The people who are saying it doesn't affect other pedals don't understand the issue. Some vintage-style Fuzz pedals tend to turn into full volume howling noise when you turn your guitar volume down, if they are on the wrong side of this kind of buffer. This is not a value judgement, and it's inappropriate to invoke Pete Cornish here. Buffered pedals are good. Some very desirable pedals really, really want to be before the first buffer. |
Question: | I see a reviewer fault it for picking up ambient vibration, and one for a slow response time. Anyone else experience these as a problem? Thanks |
Answer: | No, I don’t have those problems, great tuner, great mute button. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Will this tuner do accurate drop tunings |
Answer: | Yes. I use it for standard but also to adjust during gigs to Eb, Dropped D, etc. Great pedal less than half of its more popular competitors. |
Question: | Is it a true bypass pedal |
Answer: | Although it might say true bypass, it’s definitely not. I’ve had this for a while and it’s been affecting my tone. I can’t get super clean tones with it, there’s a very noticeable break up. Looking for a new tuner. |
Question: | Do you have to hold the switch down, or does it click |
Answer: | It clicks to toggle the tuner on and off. When off the unit passes the signal thru to the amp. When on, it allows you to tune without the sound coming through the amp. At least, when it works. Which it rarely did for me. |
Question: | Can this tuner handle a low B on bass quickly without having to use the harmonic |
Answer: | Hi there. Being the manufacturer we were hoping others would chime in so that you could get real user feedback, but the TinyTune was designed to handle the low B string on a 5-string bass without any issues. Hope that helps! |

Question: | Is this brand-new in the box with manual etc |
Answer: | Mine Was Brand New, Great Pedal. |
Question: | Does it display the cents reading |
Answer: | No, in regular mode it does not, I only use the reg mode. I suggest to look up the manual on line, and see if it has the mode you are looking for. It does have alternate modes for specific tunings, I am not using any at this time. It is accurate to a thousand divisions fret to fret. I got use to it very quickly, and it's the best tuner in my opinion. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Headphone capable |
Answer: | Yes very easy to clean, the basket is inside a pan and both are square, both come out when you fill the basket. For sticky items (chicken wings) I recommend buying some parchment paper with holes for air flow to put in the bottom of the basket for ease of cleaning. You can buy it on Amazon. If you use the parchment paper do not put in fryer until ready to add the food, with no food weight on the paper the air may cause it to float up to the heater (fire hazard warning) |
Question: | Can this be used for vocals |
Answer: | E2 error means you overfilled the basket. Open the basket, shake the contents or flip and resume cooking. |
Question: | How do you get the device that you plug in to play music through Zoom(such as phone) to play in stereo? I can only get mine to play mono |
Answer: | The measurements for the interior basket is 9 3/4 inches x 8 3/4 inches x 4 3/4 deep. According to instructions, items should be placed in a single layer. |
Question: | trying to decide which one to get... what exactly does the expression pedal do |
Answer: | Thanks for your inquiry. The temperature rang of our air fryer oven is 180℉ to 400℉, the highest temperature is 400℉. Hope that helps you. |

Sing A Different Tune
Most guitarists and bassists tune to standard tuning: (low to high) E, A, D, G, B, E for guitar, and E, A, D, G for bass. Still others like to detune their instruments for access to lower notes and increased string flexibility. No matter what you prefer, the TU300 can accommodate.

To begin tuning, simply stomp the TU300's footswitch. It features a precise single-digit LED display to tell you what note it's reading, and the 11-point stream guarantees accurate tuning from 438 Hz to 447 Hz. Plus it is bright enough to help you tune up in even the darkest club.
