Answer:	What did you mess up. The metal ends can be purchased separately if that is what got messed up. Other colors of the same amp. will interchange with each other. Hoped this helped.

Answer:	This connecter is designed for higher amperage connections, not watertightness. If they are located in a place where they stay dry, I think they would be fine, especially if you packed them up with some silicon dielectric grease. I use these on my motorcycle battery. They stay dry in that application.
