Answer:	I can’t say for sure if it’s pvc but I can tell you it’s really thick and holds up extremely well. I moved it down and upstairs and slid it over concrete for a couple seconds as well as carried it in different grilling positions and it still hasn’t torn. Answer:	I use the little brush/stick thing that came with it. If you wash it right after use and use the brush/stick to avoid getting your fingers near the blade, you should be fine. In addition to the little brush, I use a soaped-up sponge and hot, running water rather than putting it in a dishpan.

Answer:	I know this is a few months late but this mandolin was just offered on QVC this past weekend so I looked at the use and care PDF and at the bottom it says Zakarian by Dash so, yes, both QVC and this one on Amazon are the same product.
