Answer:	You could do so but may have to hold them in place and the voice keeps going on to place a slide in place. The slides which come with the unit are designed to fit, click into, the holder section allowing the unit to determine what slide you are looking at. This unit only has a weak 5x power with no option to focus. Looking at other slides might work but I believe it would be unimpressive.

Answer:	Hello Leonard,This microscope is not meant for seeing cells. It's magnifications goes up to 50X. To see cells well you would need approximately 400X. This microscope comes with sea monkeys (also known for brine shrimp), and is great for watching them swim around! It is also good to explore and see pixilation in magazines or other pictures, exploring bugs, and the many slides that come with the product!Thank you for your inquiry.

Answer:	The objective lens on this microscope is 2x and the ocular lenses are 10x and 25x. This combination will magnify your specimen either 20x or 50x.

Therefore, at this microscope's lowest power (60X), the smallest of these dust mites would appear as if it was nearly 1" long to the naked eye; and at 120X, the largest species would appear as if it was about 1.4" long to the naked eye. As you can see, the MM-300 is not just adequate for this purpose, it's perfect.

1. Place the base of the microscope flush against a flat viewing surface
2. Ensure the LED lighting is switched on
3. Start focusing on the lowest magnification setting (60x)
4. Once you have a clear view of your subject, increase the magnification to your desired level (you may need to slightly adjust the focus again slightly)

A note on using the MicroBrite Plus in the field: Due to high magnification, the focal distance of the MicroBrite Plus is very short (maximum of 2mm past the acrylic base). It is not possible to focus on subjects beyond this focal distance. Looking at larger, three dimensional objects or objects that are not on a flat surface takes practice and a steady hand, especially since small movements are exaggerated with higher magnification. This is why we recommend viewing flatter objects on a flat surface, especially when first using this microscope.

Question:	can you put other things under the microscope that are not included in the box or suggested
Answer:	Yup!!! The 990v4 is not discontinued in all ages and the new 990v5 is out. This transition happened in April 2019 through June. The new version is AMAZING but built on the same last as before. Overall there really shouldn't be much of a change in the ride with the main updates happening to the upper. The plastic shank on the bottom changed just a touch but I've sold thousands this year and very, very few people said they noticed a difference. Question:	Can you purchase additional slides or are other slides compatible
Answer:	According to the New Balance website, the V5's have "...new Ortholite® cushioning insert and supportive midsole." I currently own a pair of V5's and V4's. Each pair has a cushioning insert. The V5 inserts are branded "Ortholite." The V4 inserts are branded with " New Balance 990." The insert on the V4 has some small vent holes; the V5 insert does not have the vent holes. I can't visually see any other structural difference in the shoes. For me, the V5's feel like they fit the contour of my feet slightly better, and have slightly more firm, but responsive cushion. That could be due to the V5's being new. My feet just feel more comfortable using the V5's over the V4's, and the V4's feel pretty good. But, other users may have different experiences. If you buy the V5's and they don't work out for you, Amazon has a great and fast return policy. I don't work for Amazon or New Balance.

Answer:	This is for weights, not volume. The pans/buckets are about a pint each. I am not using this in school, but rather in my kitchen as a diet scale. It serves EXCELENTLY for precise weight of small quantities.

Question:	Can anyone compare this to the Learning Resources Primary Science Viewscope? I'm looking for my 3 yr old
Answer:	I bought the Educational Insights My First Microscope for my inquisitive 3 yr old grandson as a Christmas gift. It was a big hit. It was colorful and very user friendly. One feature I appreciated was the large area for viewing which would accommodate larger objects. In comparing the one you mentioned to this one, I noticed that the Learning Resources has a 20x magnification while this one only has 8x. Also, the Learning resources one has a removable viewer, which is a nice feature. This one costs $14.99 and is made in the USA which was a plus for me. I hope this info helps you made a more informed decision based on your preferences.

Answer:	It is 8x. A plastic lens, not the best but it won't break if a child drops the scope. This is made for preschoolers, after all. It works fine on small 3-D items...food, small toys, bugs, leaves, flowers, a book or picture, etc. The 8x enlarges a child's finger enough so the print lines are easy to see. The binocular view is very easy for little ones to use. Very few 3 - 6 year olds can use one eye effectively. The next step up in youth microscopes is a monocular one with a 10x to 40x magnification, I think.
Question:	Can you tell me what kind of detail you can see with the 8 time magnification? Wondering if it's enough for 4 year old
Answer:	This microscope is perfect for a 4-year old. Children can put all sorts of items under the microscope and see interesting details. Ask your child to look at a toy, the tip of a pen or pencil and the detail on a rock and a leaf. Look at the back of a penny (dated between 1959-2008) and challenge your 4-year old to find Lincoln sitting inside the Memorial!We chose to give this microscope 8x magnification for a very good reason: the relatively low magnification is particularly good for preschool/early elementary school age children because it gives a wide field of view which is easier for a young child to understand. Answer:	No, the Celestron Kids Let Your Child Explore the World Microscope does not have enough magnification to watch bacteria on hands.

Answer:	For a 5 yo I would go with a lower power. Young kids like a "big picture" view vs a small magnified view. This will only magnify a very small area and you have to move it around. I use it to examine a knife edge polish when using Japanese water stones for sharpening my Japanese kitchen knives. 10-20x would probably be better for you. Hope this helps.

Answer:	Yes. Seem to have the right from 20x to 40x

Answer:	It has both zoom and focus. In the picture, the black ring below the eyepiece is for one, and the black slot below has a lever for the other. It's been a while and I forgot which does which, but yes it does have both.

Mostly the 4 and 10. you can check out any local university surplus. they sometimes have amazing quality microscopes for pretty cheap. otherwise, likely any microscope would do. I would get one with an internal light source rather than the reflector.
