User questions & answers
Question: | Some reviewers say the pieces are too small; others say they're a good size. What is your opinion? Which version of the game do you have? Thanks |
Answer: | We have the large version. The pieces are smaller than you might expect from the photos--remember these are children's hands you see, and the photo gives the illusion that the pieces are fairly large. Most of the pieces are 1 to 1 1/2 inches high. And they are very smooth, so they slip off each other easily. My 4 year old grandson is a master builder with blocks of all sizes, both wooden and plastic--but he reached frustration level very quickly trying to balance these. So, I would think twice about the age and dexterity of the child you are buying this for. That said, he did enjoy just playing with the pieces and telling stories. We like the concept, the wood pieces are nicely made, and we plan on having lots of fun playing the game itself, but probably not until he's 5. |
Question: | This seems like it would hold the attention of a 3-4 year old. Do older children really like it |
Answer: | Oh, I'd say definitely too. My 4 1/2 year old daughter absolutely loves it, as does her 39 yo daddy. We've had games with her, the two 30something year old parents, and a 68 year old grandpa and all had a blast. One of the best features is that younger kids can play it alone, too, and have fun by practicing stacking the blocks. Or really anyone for that matter. |
Question: | How many total pieces (animals) are there in the box |
Answer: | There are a total of 29 Wooden animals. |
Question: | Is this made in Germany |
Answer: | Yes, this game is made in HABA's home factory in Bad Rodach, Germany. The pieces are made from solid wood and colored with a non-toxic water based stain. |

We are popping corks, letting balloons fly up and confetti rain down – Animal upon Animal turned 10 years old!
For over 10 years, monkey, snake and frill-necked lizard have been stacked in children’s rooms all over the world. From Germany to America to Japan, children and adults have opened their hearts to the small wooden animals, sustainably produced in Germany, and there they have stayed. The stacking fever has also infected Finland, where the most Animal upon Animal games have been sold per capita and worldwide.
When one or more animals falls off.......
Stacking ends for the player responsible. They must gather one or two fallen animals.
The player responsible must take up to 2 animals back into their pile
The remaining animals go in the box.
- If one animal falls off - player takes 1 animal
- If two or more fall off - player takes 2 animals.
End of the Game
The player to place their last animal successfully wins and is elected the best animal stacker of the day ..... at least until the next round!

User questions & answers
Question: | Is this just like Hi Ho Cherry-o |
Answer: | Yes, very similar. Except instead of competing against each other, players cooperate with each other to collect all the fruit before the Raven gets to the orchard and eats it. So it is the game players against the Raven and encourages co-operation rather than competition. |
Question: | Can you buy game pieces if lostl |
Answer: | Yes! Our game arrived without the cherries so I contacted Haba (their contact info for lost/missing pieces is in the game leaflet), and they sent replacements within the week, and included two extra cherries. |

HABA Number Maze Magnetic Game
A great toy to keep children quietly occupied in lobby's, restaurants, road trips and airplane rides. Works hand-eye coordination and fine motor skills way better than a tablet or phone ever could!
What is the Object of the Game?
When children are ready, they can aim to get all the balls out of the center triangle and matched up with their correct number/color combination. For example, the five white balls turn into chicken eggs in the nest. The one blue ball goes with the cow, next to the Blue #1, The two red balls go with the horse next to the red #2 etc. At the end, challenge yourself to get the balls back into the triangle! Don't worry if your child is not ready for this aspect just yet, there is still plenty to enjoy in simply moving the beads around the board.
Carefully thought out design
Each of the number stations have a slight recess allowing the balls to stay safe in their homes when children tilt the board (as will undoubtedly happen when playing on their laps!). The magnetic wand is just long enough to reach all parts of the maze but not too long so as to get tangled or present a safety hazard.
Encourages Problem Solving!
The strength of the magnetic wand often results in 2 or even 3 balls following behind when your child is trying to move only one. Frustrating right? Not to worry, this is by design! Figuring out how to use the roadblocks and other little alcoves to "hide" a certain color while allowing the color of your choice to pass is part of the fun.
Magnetic wand stores easily for travel
When you are done, simply tuck away the magnetic wand in the conveniently provided storage slot and voila, cleanup is done! The number maze measures 9.5" in diameter making it small enough to tuck in a diaper bag or carry-on.
