User questions & answers

Question: My Craftsman torque wrench just broke for the 3rd time and I am not sending it back for repairs for the cost of a new one. What brand is better
Answer: As a former aircraft mechanic, I recommend Snap-on brand tools. I also have Craftsman tools and they have proven to be reliable and durable, not sure why your torque wrench broke three times.
Question: Does it come with calibration certificate
Answer: No but there is a sheet that talks about calibration and you can take it in for calibration but no certificate. It says its calibrated from the factory.
Question: How do you reverse the direction of ratcheting? I got one and it came in the "loosen" direction and the manual just points to the knob on the head
Answer: Hold the square socket drive with your fingers to prevent it from rotating. Then you can turn the knob on the back of the head with your other hand to change direction. If you don't hold the square socket drive stationary, the whole assembly will just rotate. Turning the knob counterclockwise while you are holding the square drive stationary will set the wrench up for the "tighten" direction. Turning the knob clockwise will set the wrench back to "loosen" direction.

User questions & answers

Question: Does it come with a calibration certificate
Answer: No
Question: Can it read torque in both directions or just clockwise
Answer: If I'm understanding you correctly, I have personally used a torque setting following clockwise revolutions to the desired setting, followed by counterclockwise revs. to reduced settings. The wrench performed ok at the noticeable reduced settings.
Question: Is it supposed to be impossible to set my torque? I cant even spin it
Answer: Like the first comment, the bottom of the torque wrench has a locknut. If it feels tight then you probably won’t be able to change the torque setting until it feels loose. Rotate it until it feels loose to change the setting and once the torque is set, rotate it again to tighten it before using it.
Question: Can Linux be installed on this
Answer: Of course it can be installed, but your warrantee would be void.

User questions & answers

Question: This tool completely failed at accurately reading torque as a result my new engine is broken my question is who's going to pay for my new engine
Answer: You built an engine, and used a 16 dollar torque wrench to do so.....
Question: Plan on using this for a few rear end builds. Is this accurate enough
Answer: Has it been accurate so far?
Question: There was no instructions in the box. How can it be used for 3/8" drive? If you turn it the right way to use it, you can't read the scale
Answer: We always used the upper lug for reading the scale when you have a nut or bolt facing downwards and you are above it. I have no idea why they made it 3/8 instead of 1/2. You have to buy adapters to get around the wrench lug size to socket size. But of course if you are working heavy pulls then it's best to have a 1/2" on all.
Question: Where was it made
Answer: Made in Taiwan bar code 837013037033
