Answer:	The cushioning in the tubes is dense enough it doesn't flop down. I guess over time it could after extended use and abuse. The dimensions of the bed is quite small, smaller than I thought and had to return it. Our use was for a 20lb dog. But if you have a 10-12 lb dog/cat, you should be fine.

I didn't care for this particular tray as it is textured which made the dogs' nails scratching the surface sound almost like fingernails on a chalkboard. I traded it out for a smooth one.
