Answer:	i know i used mine on small lock rings. it depends on the holes in the particular rings i guess. if they will accept the ones provided with this particular set. i believe it would work but best to double check the specs on both ring and attachments. this is a handful to manage, this i know for sure.

Answer:	Flat, but a round ring, right? Like a keychain ring? Yes. The longer hooked tooth on the plier goes in-between and pushed the rings apart.

Answer:	well, yes, and no. The handles flop around except for the last half inch or so of closing. then there is a spring that works, but only at the position that you will be opening a ring. Having said that, that's also the only point you really need a spring to help. I find the tool easy to use, not just for fishing rings but key rings or anything you need to hold something apart. Nice construction and easy to handle.
