Answer:	If by top you mean what is behind the top lip that is usually (in my case it is) covered by the credenza to which it was inserted. This is not meant to be a stand alone heater but is to be inserted into a cabinet. Any other area I would definitely not paint due to heat.

Answer:	Don't know. When I was shopping, they were several very good reviews.

Answer:	As another answer stated, it's similar to a 1500 watt hair dryer. I'm not sure about the lowes fireplaces referenced, but just about every electric fireplace I know of is about the same 1400 to 1500 watts of heat. This is about the most wattage you can get out of a standard electrical outlet so again I don't see any major differences between any electric fireplace that I know of. In my opinion, you don't buy an electric fireplace for the heat. Yes you'll get enough heat to take the chill out of a room, but don't expect it to be the only source of heat especially for a larger room. I view these more for the look of a fireplace without the hassle of needing gas and possible venting. The other benefit is you don't need the heater on so you can use it year round just for the looks. This model is about the most realistic electric fireplace that I've seen. We love it!!

Answer:	The glass in the back is mirrored near the wood area and fades to black near the top. It has a real appearance. I’m very happy with the product.

Answer:	No they aren't tiny logs. The thing that I noticed was not the size of the logs, but the way they make them look more realistic is by using a mirror behind the logs which creates a 3D effect.I While it does look more realistic, It detracts from the realism to see a that there is a mirror behind the logs. I resolved this by putting up black mesh curtains in front of the unit. I also know that Dimplex makes a front piece (not cheap) that would look even better. Check it out. Even having stated some problems, I appreciate having the visual of burning logs.

Answer:	Just fits in my 28" wide fireplace, but the dimensions must be online. It is so realistic that people actually think we have a fire going. My only complaint is that it doesn't seem to put out a lot of heat but is a good backup for our regular heat.

Answer:	Very simple fix. Unplug first! Take the front facia plate off (4 Philips screws). Pull out the log insert and disconnect the connector so you can take it out completely. Inside you will see the reflecting bar with a bunch of little chrome tabs. When these rotate it's what makes the flame random. That bar is easily bent and causes a hump in the middle that makes the tabs hit the bottom when it rotates, thus the noise. There really no way to straighten it completely because of the way it goes in. Plus to replace the bulbs you have to move the bar, which will bend it anyway. You could trim the tabs but I found it easier to just bend them about an 1/8 of an inch. Honestly I did this on my dining room table with it plugged it. Its safe as long as you disconnect the log wire while it's plugged in. Then you can bend a few tabs, turn it on, see if any are still hitting and rinse/repeat as needed. The bonus is I find the flicker is even more realistic after bending them. Hope this helps.

Answer:	I didn't see that but I set mine on the raised brick hearth of my fireplace. With the glass doors to the fireplace closed, the "flames' reflect in the glass and more heat goes out into the room instead of up the chimney and it looks fine. Takes the chill off the room on these cold mornings.

I bought he Pearl Mantels 159-56 Princeton Fireplace Mantel Surround, 56-Inch, Unfinished which is also sold on amazing and these two items seem to be the perfect deletions of space a part all the way around. You may not like this piratical mantel but the measurements are what you are looking for. I would recommend this to you.
