It does have an extended higher lift for thicker fabric and has a wide sewing surface, however, this machine, in my opinion, is better suited for sewing clothing and small projects, not exclusively for quilting. If you can afford a different machine mmore equipped for quilting, then I think it would be a better investment to buy a "quilting" machine if that's what you're interested in doing.
