12 best long life bulbs
Long-life bulbs, also known as long-lasting bulbs, are a type of light bulb that is designed to have a significantly longer lifespan compared to traditional incandescent bulbs. These bulbs are related to incandescent bulbs and are commonly used in various applications within the Tools Home Improvement category. Here are some key characteristics and information about long-life bulbs:
Technology: Long-life bulbs can come in various technologies, including incandescent, compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs), or light-emitting diodes (LEDs). However, they are typically associated with non-incandescent technologies due to their extended lifespan.
Lifespan: The defining feature of long-life bulbs is their extended lifespan. These bulbs are engineered to last much longer than standard incandescent bulbs, which tend to have relatively short lifespans. Long-life bulbs can last anywhere from 10,000 to 25,000 hours or even longer, depending on the technology and brand.
Energy Efficiency: In addition to their longer lifespan, many long-life bulbs are energy-efficient. LED and CFL long-life bulbs, in particular, consume significantly less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs, which can result in lower electricity bills and reduced environmental impact.
Cost Savings: While long-life bulbs may have a higher upfront cost compared to traditional incandescent bulbs, their longer lifespan and energy efficiency can result in cost savings over time. They require fewer replacements and consume less electricity.
Applications: Long-life bulbs can be used in a wide range of lighting applications, including residential and commercial settings. They are suitable for various fixtures, such as lamps, ceiling lights, wall sconces, and outdoor lighting.
Color Temperature and Brightness: Long-life bulbs are available in different color temperatures (e.g., warm white, cool white) and brightness levels, allowing consumers to choose the right type of lighting for their specific needs.
Environmental Impact: Because long-life bulbs last longer and use less energy, they contribute to reducing the overall environmental impact associated with lighting. They result in fewer bulbs being discarded and reduced greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation.
Compatibility: When replacing standard incandescent bulbs with long-life bulbs, it's important to ensure compatibility with existing fixtures and dimmer switches, as some long-life bulbs may have specific requirements.
Long-life bulbs offer a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly lighting solution compared to traditional incandescent bulbs. They are a popular choice for consumers looking to reduce energy consumption, save money on replacements, and minimize their environmental footprint while maintaining reliable and long-lasting illumination in their homes or businesses.

User questions & answers
Question: | Product details says lamps are dimmable yet box says non-dimmable. Are these dimmable led lamps |
Answer: | These LED’s have a range of 4 volts to 24 volts, so they clearly have internal regulation. NiMH x 4 would be at the very low end of this range, and thus easily handled. Since NiMH batteries are 1.2 volts or so when fully charged, and fall below 1 volt as they discharge, this setup might not allow the full energy capacity of the batteries to be utilized. |
Question: | Why can only 2 and 4 packs be shipped to California but not 12 and |
Answer: | It should work. |
Question: | Features section says dimmable, but reviews say non dimmable, which one is correct |
Answer: | I'm not familiar with the Magnum 2 light, but if it is a D cell flashlight, I don't see why it wouldn't work, because this conversion works with C and D cell batteries. |
Question: | Why can't the 24 pack be shipped to addresses in california? i tried several ca address residential/commercial and amazon lockers, but it won't allow |
Answer: | No, not suitable for a 2 D/C cell Maglite. Minimum voltage required is over approx.4.5 volts, with a 2 cell Maglite you only have 3 volts . |

User questions & answers
Question: | Douse it work with genni app |
Answer: | No, this is for 3D ONLY, for Mag-Lite you need a sprecial Bulb for every Model, if you have a 2D cell you need a LWSA201 (Maglite don't make this anymore) but you can use LMXA201. |
Question: | Just purchased these bulbs and they all strobe in multiple fixtures in the off position. Too high of a wattage bulb perhaps? Excuse my ignorance |
Answer: | f you have a Maglite 3 D or 3 C cell and your bulb looks like LWSA301 this bulb will work. You may even consider to use a LiteXpress LED (bulb) like LXB530 or LXB525 (2mode) very robust and liftime up to 30.000 hours, Battery run time at least 10 times compared to the present bulb you had used. |
Question: | What is the length of the bulb? I have short globes. thanks |
Answer: | It worked in my maglite, I tried other bulbs and they didn't work. |
Question: | Some led bulbs are marked 'not for use in enclosed luminaries'. can this one be used in an enclosed ceiling fixture |
Answer: | I'm not sure but about as bright as the old bulbs. Can't complain. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I need these for the new bathroom fixture, but hate the fluorescent "washed out" look. do i want warmer with 3000 kelvins? or dayight |
Answer: | My experience with trying to dim LED lights is that the technology for the dimmers isn't good enough to work properly. My dimmer switch for a bedroom lamp burned out from trying this. Best to use LEDs only for non-dimming purposes, stick with incandescent for dimming. Hopefully this will be changing. |
Question: | are 20 inch led fluorescent light tubes made |
Answer: | It’s because of proposition 65. The larger packs do not have the cancer warning on them. It’s the same reason why many products don’t ship to California on Amazon. |
Question: | is it slim |
Answer: | the description says Non-Dimmable, Instant On, Shatter resistant, Shock and vibration resistant but some reviewers say they are not Sylvania, will find out in a few days |
Question: | whats the difference between cool light, warm light and daylight |
Answer: | Contrary to most opinions here, it has nothing to do with Title 20 - the specs for these bulbs are way above Title 20 requirements. The reason this doesn't ship to CA (while smaller packs of the exact same light bulb do) is because of Proposition 65, related to the cancer warning on the packaging. This SKU doesn't have the warning on the package, while the smaller boxes do. The "lots of dim bulbs in CA" comment was really funny BTW. Maybe they should pass a proposition about that. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Are these clear or soft white? The title lists both, but they can't be both |
Answer: | When you put a non-dimmable bulb in a dimmed light socket, it strobes. |
Question: | Would these bulbs work out side over my garage door in covered/protected light fixture.? have intermatic in wall timers |
Answer: | These bulbs were manufactured to mimic the size of the average household light bulb. If you have a short globe, you may want to consider a smaller size bulb. |
Question: | Do these bulbs get hot? I am building a handle dryer for my knives |
Answer: | After about four months after installing in an enclosed ceiling fixture, two bulbs to a fixture, I started to notice that some of the bulbs were burning out while others were flickering like a strobe light. I have about 40 light fixtures in my building with similar bulbs. But it wasn't this brand, it was EcoSmart E26 A16s purchased from Home Depot. Those bulbs were marked as not to be used in an enclosed fixture. So when the product information states this, it's worth taking seriously. I didn't see anything written in the product info or on the box of these lights about not using in an enclosed fixture. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Can you use these in a completely enclosed glass ceiling fixture |
Answer: | I'm not aware of a 20" bulb and a quick internet search didn't reveal any. I've found measurements misleading to an extent. You might measure your old bulb. It might actually be a 21" bulb. It seems to me that the pins are often included in, or at least partially included, in the total measurement. |
Question: | What is the warranty on these bulbs |
Answer: | Yes they are very slim. I purchased them for an under cabinet/over counter light fixture. |
Question: | How Many Calories In It |
Answer: | Warm white and soft white will produce a yellow hue, close to incandescents, while bulbs labeled as cool/bright white will produce a whiter light, closer to daylight and similar to what you see in retail stores. The three primary types of color temperature for light bulbs are: Soft/warm White (2700K – 3000K), Cool/Bright White (3500K – 4100K), and Daylight (5000K – 6500K). The higher the Degrees Kelvin, the whiter the color temperature. Typically, most people prefer Warm White (WW = 3000K) bulbs for their homes. |
Question: | Anyone know why these are illegal in California |
Answer: | It would not operate the bulb no, but do you have the geeni plug or a lamp that is geeni ready? That is all that matters really. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Is a medium base just a standard base |
Answer: | Probably not. These bulbs are really large, larger than a normal 100W incandescent bulb, and do not fit inside the glass enclosures of my various light fixtures. If size is not an issue, then no problem. |
Question: | is this 4 , 4 bulb packs, as it implies, equaling 16 bulbs or just 4 bulbs total |
Answer: | They work until they don't. |
Question: | Best light bulb for reading |
Answer: | 14.3308 calories |
Question: | if 100 watt uses only 72 watt does it still look as strong light as 100 watt |
Answer: | California has implemented their own requirements for light bulbs that is not only limited to efficiency, but also dimming, color quality, and several others. It is not related to recycle fees or health warnings. These added requirements drive the cost up on the light bulbs. So, many manufacturers sell a "California" version, sometimes called Title 20, Title 24, or CEC compliant. The remaining 49 states get the more affordable version. It is also not illegal to possess these lamps in California, they just cannot be sold there. |

Question: | I just installed this bulb and it won't dim all the way to off. It says partly lit. Am I doing something wrong |
Answer: | Can you explain what kid of covered light fixture? I have light with fan and bowl type where the bulbs would go into. |
Question: | Can these be used in outdoor light fixtures |
Answer: | These light bulbs are just like regular bulbs, it is a 60 watt. I really don’t know what kind of bulb you would need for a recessed light. These bulbs just last a lot longer then a regular light bulb. |
Question: | I installed this to a fixture that has a dimmer switch but the light hasn’t turned off in hours. Is that normal |
Answer: | The "K" refers to the color of the light. Incandescent lamp color temperature is around 2700K; it is referred to as soft and appears yellow. Lamps with the color of afternoon sunlight are in the 5000K color temperature region and will appear brighter to your eye. Some might even say harsh. Here is a web page from Westinghouse that might help you select the color temperature of the bulb you want to buy. http://www.westinghouselighting.com/color-temperature.aspx |

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these fit the mainstays or better homes and gardens brand small wall warmers? Do they actually melt the wax |
Answer: | Mine are attached to a motion sensor might and work without any problem. |
Question: | Can these bulbs be used in salt lamp |
Answer: | No |
Question: | Is this made in usa |
Answer: | No. As incandescent bulbs work off power (voltage and current) during dimming they will appear to be off whereas they are still producing heat of some kind just not visible. LED bulbs work the same (power) they are more efficient and therefore will produce light at very low voltage. So you are doing nothing wrong. |
Question: | Has anyone tested these in a dimmable chandelier |
Answer: | Conventional wall dimmers allow some electricity through, even when on the dimmest setting. You won't notice this with a regular incandescent bulb because they use so much electricity. However, LED bulbs use much less electricity, so the small amount that continues to be fed through is more than enough to light up the bulb. Your options are to (1)get an LED wall dimmer, (2)to install a resistor in the light fixture (which is what I did), or (3)just deal with the fact that it won't dim-out completely. Sounds like the LED bulb is working properly, though. |
