Answer:	It's easier said then done. It is technically possible, but be warned that this thing is incredibly flimsy. The wire is so thin it broke multiple times when attempting to cut and strip it. You have to be very careful when attempting this.

Answer:	I don't think so. Depends on thermostat's power consumption. Power output of this adapter is about 8 Watt. If power consumption of single thermostat is 5 Watt, for example, then you cannot power more then one thermostat by this model adapter. You need more powerful adapter, with bigger power output, exceeding current 300 mA.

Answer:	No. The lock itself works over Bluetooth which has an effective range in a house of perhaps 40 ft. The Augusy Connect connects to the August service via your home wifi and then uses the lock's Bluetooth connection--in short, it's extending the range from ~40 ft to Internet-infinite; in theory, if both you and your house have an Internet connection, you can open the lock from anywhere in the world. If you only care to open the lock when you or someone else authorized is stood in front of it, then the lock alone is enough. That said, I'm on my 3rd August Connect and it's also beginning to misbehave disconnecting at random--don't buy the Connect if the lock alone meets your needs.

Answer:	The August lock by itself opens via blue tooth. Meaning you need to be within 15-30 feet. The connect makes it wifi, but it's buggy at best. The device connects to the lock via Bluetooth, and then you connect to the device via wifi. It works 1% of the time for me. Wait for an update.

Answer:	That's the range of possible transformer ratings that can work on your doorbell. It means you can use as low as an 8v AC transformer, or as high as a 24v AC transformer, or anything in between such as an 18v AC transformer. So, no lower than 8v and no higher than 24v and you're good to go!
Question:	Will this be battery powered or be a wired connection
Answer:	Simple answer is: maybe, but you should use one regardless... On a Ring doorbell, when connected to a mechanical doorbell, pressing the button activates the mechanical doorbell as well as activating the camera. To activate a mechanical doorbell, the Ring button shorts the incoming power leads together to complete the circuit activating the mechanical doorbell (a regular doorbell button is simply an on/off switch). Adding a resistor when using just a power transformer/adapter to replace the mechanical doorbell stops the power transformer/adapter from burning out and possibly causing a fire if the Ring button is held down. By providing a limiting load with an inline resistor (normally the mechanical doorbell itself serves as the limiting load), there isn't a short circuit of the power supply that could lead to a potential fire. So while this power adapter claims to be protected against short circuits (such as caused when the doorbell button is depressed), it would be foolish to depend on this last ditch safety circuit to protect against burning out or burning up the power adapter! Prudence would dictate the use of an inline resistor when using ANY power supply with a Ring doorbell, unless you're connecting to a mechanical doorbell which is already properly loaded. But the value of the resistor is DEPENDENT ON THE POWER SUPPLY, and has to match the rating of the adapter or you can still be risking a fire! The Ring recommended 25 ohm 50w resistor assumes a power supply with a higher rating than listed here, and would draw more power than this adapter could handle defeating the purpose of using a resistor. And no, Ring has not made a mistake, the 25 ohm 50w resistor works for THEIR power adapter - but not for this one! A simple application of Ohm's Law shows that the optimal resistor for use with this power adapter would be a 100 Ohm 25W resistor, as that would provide a suitable load that doesn't overdraw the power adapter and the resistor itself would not overheat and burn out either (such as one here on Amazon B07VSF9HFW). The resistor is wired inline with one of the power leads that go to the doorbell and that's it.

Answer:	No, there is no internal battery. It needs to supply continuous power to it.

Answer:	The amount of recordings greatly depends on too many variables to answer this question. I have mine set at 2k, recording during all doorbell rings and motion detection in the medium sensitivity setting only at night. The kids like to play with the doorbell, and we get fairly frequent deliveries so it sees quite a bit of traffic. It currently is storing over 100 video clips for the past 10 days.
Question:	What's the power requirement to the doorbell? What voltage is required
Answer:	16v @ 30VA is the standard voltage for doorbells in the US, which is why the Eufy uses it. This translates to 16V @ 1.875 A. It is very inexpensive to buy a power adapter with these specs, an Amazon search shows several basic power adapters for less than $12. You can even search for “doorbell transformer” on Amazon and see dozens of options for $10-$15, including ones that plug into a wall outlet. Note that you can go higher on the amps (Useful for very long wire runs), but the voltage needs to be in the 16V-20V range otherwise you risk damaging the doorbell and creating a potential safety concern.

Answer:	Without the separate Connect device, the August lock relies on Bluetooth for communications. That means that you have to be within Bluetooth range to use the August app to lock/unlock the door. If you want the lock to use WiFi for communication, you need the Connect device. WiFi is needed to control the August lock remotely (out of Bluetooth range) including using Alexa or other devices to control the lock.
Question:	Is it more reliable than the 2nd Gen? My 2G version failed all the time, replaced twice under warranty, and still not perfect
Answer:	It’s a lot better than the 2G. I’ve had it for 4 months and I’ve had no problems whatsoever. The remote access is instant as compared to the 2G which took like 30-60 seconds. I definitely recommend it

Answer:	This unit needs to be wired. This unit may need an updated transformer to 24 volts if it is a long run like my existing doorbell was, or may be was just old. meter showed it just under spec. Anyway new transformer did the trick, well within spec. This unit has a small rechargeable battery that will last 30-60 minutes if the power goes out.

Answer:	I have mine on outside gate and went thru one day of rain so far, no problem.

Answer:	The gateway is ZigBee and not Bluetooth as the other person said. You can have the gateway up to 50 feet away from the lock and it will work. No the gateway isn't hardwired to the router.

Answer:	The simple answer is that you can paint anything with the right primer. I really don't see why you couldn't paint this as long as you didn't let the paint bind the thumb mechanism. I would point out that the thumb hold will get a lot of wear & the paint may not last. If you are considering the (separate) keypad, be aware that this would be a much trickier task.
Question:	How I can unlock if I forgot my phone inside home and walked outside and door get autolocked
Answer:	You still have the ability to unlock the door with the keys to the deadbolt.

Answer:	The hub will connect one lock, doorbell to the internet or home automation service. If you want multiple locks connected to your automation I think you will need a hub for each.

Question:	Are the numbers backlit
Answer:	Yes, it works great when you want the door to be locked with a routine. You cannot unlock the door in routines for obvious security reasons. You do need the WiFi August Connect for Alex access.
Question:	Does it have to be in close proximity to the smart lock? i don't care for the looks of it and i'd like to mount it around 20 feet away
Answer:	Just the August App. Your Phone will automaticly connect via Bluetooth and Wi-Fi after installation and setup.

Question:	need a resistor with product
Answer:	The intended use case is for a few feet max and will work with metal / security doors. You could probably get away with 10 ft if your door is wood, otherwise I suggest no more than 5 ft. When testing, be sure to test multiple times. You can check the signal on your phone with a bluetooth scanning app when the keypad is in setup mode. A RSSI of less than -70dBm will not work reliably.
