9 best car subwoofer with box enclosures
Absolutely, let's dive into car subwoofers with box enclosures!
1. Subwoofer Boxes/Enclosures:
Purpose: The primary function of a subwoofer box or enclosure is to enhance the performance of the subwoofer by providing a controlled environment for sound waves to resonate.
Types of Boxes:
Sealed Enclosures: These provide tight and accurate bass. They are space-efficient and are suitable for various music genres.
Ported (Vented) Enclosures: These use a vent or port to allow air to escape, enhancing low-frequency output. They can be more efficient but require more space.
Bandpass Enclosures: These are designed to maximize the efficiency of specific frequency ranges, providing a more focused sound output.
2. Benefits of Using Enclosures:
Improved Sound Quality: Enclosures help control and enhance the bass response, preventing sound waves from canceling each other out and providing a more defined and impactful low-end.
Protection: The box protects the subwoofer from external elements and potential damage.
Optimized Performance: Different types of enclosures cater to various preferences, whether you prioritize accuracy, volume, or a balance between the two.
3.Matching Subwoofer to Enclosure:
Specifications: It's crucial to match the subwoofer's specifications to the recommended enclosure type and size. This ensures optimal performance and prevents damage to the subwoofer.
Air Space: Subwoofers have specific air space requirements, and the enclosure should be built or chosen accordingly.
4. Custom vs. Pre-built Enclosures:
Custom Enclosures: Some enthusiasts prefer building custom enclosures to precisely match their vehicle's space and their subwoofer's requirements. This allows for a more tailored audio experience.
Pre-built Enclosures: Ready-made enclosures are available for convenience. They come in various designs and sizes to suit different subwoofer models.
5. Installation Considerations:
Placement: The placement of the subwoofer box within the vehicle can impact bass response. Experimenting with different locations can help find the optimal placement.
Wiring: Proper wiring is crucial for both safety and optimal performance. Ensure that the subwoofer is correctly wired to the car audio system.
6. Subwoofer Power Handling:
- Amplification: The power handling capacity of the subwoofer should match or exceed the power output of the amplifier to prevent damage and distortion.
Car subwoofers with box enclosures are essential components for those seeking a powerful and well-controlled bass experience in their vehicles. Selecting the right type of enclosure and ensuring compatibility with the subwoofer are key factors in achieving the desired audio quality.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this 2cu.ft for each subwoofer |
Answer: | Stupid people shouldn’t answer. Subwoofers need specific air volume. This is way too small for any sub needing 2 cubic feet of air volume. To you saying 1.8: first you can’t include any port volume , secondly, ITS INTERNAL AIR VOLUME. NOT THR DISPLACEMENT OF THE EXTERNAL DIMENSIONS. You can’t multiply the exterior dimensions like of you have. 14x14x1/2 of 32 then divide by 1728. Idiots. Measure the interior dimensions, not the port. These prefabs are tuned ridiculously too high. When you play anything slowed or bassed, your cone will be uncontrollable flop city. Enjoy that. When you blow the sub in less than a month DO watch a YouTube video and build a sun either sealed or tuned to 25Hz. |

User questions & answers
Question: | will this box fit in a 94 firebird in the hatchback |
Answer: | Yes it will fit but not enough air space according to the Rockford Fosgate's website recommended enclosure specs. Looks like they recommend approx 1.40 cu ft. and this box is right around .82 net volume. It'll work but if you really want to get the most out of that P3 I'd go with Crutchfield's Bass Bunker Model BB10-1V (1.20 cu ft) or maybe even the BB10-125V. (1.47 cu ft)- this will help that awesome p3 breathe. I own this E10SV and the BB10-1V and after switching to the Bass Bunker it's made a world of difference for me. I'm running a Sundown SA-10 in that Bass Bunker BB10-1V because Sundown calls for 1.0 to 1.25 cu ft in a ported box. Best decision I've made when it comes to a box. Crutchfield is of course known for their quality. This E10SV is not bad at all and is well built. Especially for the price. I just can't stress enough the importance and the difference it'll make by matching box specs to manufacturer's specs. Hope this helps. |
Question: | How big is the binding post mounting circle on the 10" sealed box? 3" or 4"? I would be replacing it with a better one |
Answer: | No but I have two of these boxes. One with a type r 10 and the other with an RE 10. For both of these setups they are wired down to 1ohm and I highly recommend adding polyfil to the box. I just added to the sides of the box. Gives it a more deeper bass than boomy. The box is tuned to 37 so it makes it sound a bit boomy on certain notes. Adding polyfil sorted that problem out for both boxes. So if you get it, polyfil is a must unless you like the boomy bass |
Question: | Will a 10 in hcca 2 ohm 2000 rms fit |
Answer: | why not measure the space you have and look at the size of the box to determine if it will fit? |
Question: | Can i install my pyle blue wave 10"in.dual voice coil subwoofer in this? is the box deep enough |
Answer: | Why are all these answers different? User questions & answers
Question: | Come with amp |
Answer: | It fit any car trunk lay flatI use my stand up for saving floor space in the sub. |
Question: | I'm sort of new to this stuff so what amp would be perfect for this subwoofer |
Answer: | 30 x 17 x 12 inches These are the demensions |
Question: | What are the demensions for the box |
Answer: | Why on god's green earth would you want to tune to 45hz...thats far to high...35is great |
Question: | Can I run this sub through a 400 watt, 4 channel amplifier |
Answer: | The vent (also called a port/slot port) is used to allow the sound from the back of the subwoofer to escape the enclosure and add to the speakers overall output. A short summary of a ported box sound would be that it is louder than its sealed counterpart around the ports tuning frequency and the sound created is more boomy than the tight punchy response of a sealed box. A drawback to ported boxes is that below the tuning frequency of the enclosure the subwoofer rapidly starts to lose control of itself and will begin to bottom out, clipp violently (makes a clapping sound), and ultimately blow itself because the sub is essentially playing as if their is no box present and the air pressure created throws off the subs motor controls. The reason for the box being divided is that each subwoofer being used has its own dedicated airspace. An easier way to understand the divider in the box is to just think of it as two completely identical boxes that are joined together to make everything look better. The advantage to a divided box is that in the event one of the two subwoofers gets blown the remaining subwoofer is completely unaffected. In a box where both subwoofers are not divided from eachother the blown subwoofer would create resistance for the remaining sub in a couple different ways and ultimately work towards blowing the other sub up as well. The only disadvantage to divided enclosures is the extra space required from them. If you are unsure about what box to buy keep the following in mine. Sealed boxes are much better for sound quality while ported/vented boxes are louder but are less accurate with sound quality and create a boomier sound. If you are new to ported boxes purchase a divided box like this to keep potential accidents from getting worse. Hope this helps |
