I am 77 years old and still like them. We had a few on Halloween and all the kids wanted Moon Pies.

Answer:	Honestly, I wouldn't chance it. I own the 5000 series and it's only rated at 22lbs. I caught a 30lb carp and it was quite a task. Gar can reach 200+ lbs so I would use something a little more heavy duty. Something made for salt water.

Answer:	I'm pretty sure the pole is either, but you can order the reel in both left or right, ask the seller if its not under the drop down menu.

Answer:	These are breakdown poles, if using in 60' deep saltwater, you will hook into fish that much too heavy for this pole, but like redfish in shallows, it may survive, but its designed for bass the occasional 12lb bass. Not 20lb redfish 15 times an hour. The best bass pole that are one piece can not handle that, be smart and don't use a break down for anything that's constantly always at its max unless your trying to break it. It looks to be one of the most stout breakdowns I've seen.

Answer:	I would go with the 6000. This is certainly not a finesse situation, even a 4000 is suited for bass fishing, you want the sturdiest reel you can get. i have caught 6 or 7 pound blue cats by accident with a 4000, and I know if you get to 20-30 pound fish you'll want more reel than that.
