| Answer: | UPDATED: So a friend was getting ready to chuck his brand new Abu Garcia 6601sx in the trash. Ask me if I wanted to try and fix it. The story was he had bought it some time ago warranty expired tried it a couple of times had lots of problems. I fixed it in 15 minutes cast reliably a couple of dozen time in the back yard. Went out on the kayak cast three times before it broke again. The housing screws work loose and the main and pinion gear loose focus on what they are supposed to be doing; causing either a complete lock or complete free rotation of the spool depending on how it feels at the time. I think I might give it another shot using lock tight on the screws. All the successful casts made me feel the reel was really worth having but the consistent failure has me questing it. NEW: Turns out after fixing it again I found out that it was the drag you can fix it simply by applying drag if you adjust the drag beyond the lower limit what ever that is the whole reel ceases to function. No drag at all means the reel will not function properly or at all. |

| Answer: | No... Matter of fact no baitcaster does. Most people that are going to spool with 30 lb line are usually talking about braid not mono. If you do spool with 30 pound mono you will get less yardage then you would you get with 12 pound. It all boils down what you plan to use this reel for A 7.1:1 Gear ratio reel is usually used for topwater I personally use it for poppers and walk the dog baits and I spool up with 15 pound mono but If your talking about frogs you may want to use 30-50 pound braid with a mono backing! |
