2 best olympic weights plates
Olympic weight plates are specialized weightlifting plates used in strength training and are commonly associated with the Olympic-style lifting and powerlifting disciplines. These plates are used to add resistance to barbells and weightlifting equipment. Here are some key points about Olympic weight plates:
Standard Sizes: Olympic weight plates adhere to standard sizes and dimensions established by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). The most common sizes are 45 pounds (20.4 kg) for the large plates and 25 pounds (11.3 kg) for the smaller plates. Other sizes, such as 10 pounds (4.5 kg), 5 pounds (2.3 kg), 2.5 pounds (1.1 kg), and 1.25 pounds (0.57 kg), are also used.
Hole Size: Olympic weight plates have a 2-inch (50.8 mm) diameter hole in the center. This standardized hole size ensures that they can fit securely on Olympic-sized barbells.
Material: These plates are typically made from cast iron or steel. Some are coated with rubber or urethane for added durability and to protect gym floors from damage.
Weight Accuracy: High-quality Olympic weight plates are manufactured to be very precise in terms of their weight. They are often calibrated to be within a small tolerance range to ensure accuracy.
Bumper Plates: In addition to traditional cast iron or steel plates, there are also Olympic bumper plates. Bumper plates are made of rubber and are designed to be dropped from overhead, making them suitable for Olympic lifting and CrossFit.They are typically used in brightly colored sets, with different colors representing different weights.
Barbell Compatibility: Olympic weight plates are designed to be used with Olympic-sized barbells, which also have a 2-inch diameter sleeve to accommodate the plates. These barbells are commonly found in gyms and are used for various strength and weightlifting exercises.
Versatility: Olympic weight plates are versatile and can be used for a wide range of exercises, including squats, deadlifts, bench presses, overhead presses, and Olympic lifts like the clean and jerk and snatch.
Weight Increments: The availability of weight plates in various increments allows lifters to gradually increase the resistance on their barbells, making progressive strength training possible.
Plate Designs: Some Olympic weight plates have unique designs or features, such as handles for easier transport or grip-enhancing textures.
Storage: Many gyms and home setups use weight plate racks or trees to store and organize Olympic weight plates conveniently.
Safety Collars: When using Olympic weight plates, it's important to use safety collars (also known as barbell collars) to secure the plates on the barbell and prevent them from sliding off during exercises.
In summary, Olympic weight plates are a fundamental component of strength training and weightlifting. They come in standardized sizes, are designed for use with Olympic-sized barbells, and provide versatility for a wide range of exercises. Whether used by athletes training for Olympic competitions or individuals looking to build strength, these plates are essential tools for achieving fitness goals.

User questions & answers
Question: | Why does the title say bumper plates if these aren't bumper plates |
Answer: | I don't have the exact dimensions but it was big enough for me to hit three studs that were spaced out at about 16inches. My slim bezel 60inch TV has no issues covering the entire bracket. |
Question: | Does this product contain latex |
Answer: | Yes, the kit includes hardware for wall installation and hardware for TV installation. |
Question: | What about the horrible smell some people are talking about? This is definitely a non starter if this is still the case |
Answer: | Part of the mount is attached to monitor, that part will come off without the wall portion being removed. It was an ordeal to install in the place where mine is installed and would be difficult to re-install more than to remove. Hence I would not recommend removing the unit unless it was for replacement. The mount works well after I added spacers because it was too close to wall to move freely without them. |
Question: | Can these weights fit a 47-inch curl olympic bar |
Answer: | Minimum extension is 3.4" |
