2 best trolling motor with hand controls
A trolling motor with hand controls is a type of propulsion system commonly used on small to medium-sized boats for fishing and recreational boating. It is designed to provide precise and quiet maneuverability while allowing the operator to control the motor's direction and speed using hand-operated controls. Here are some key features and information about trolling motors with hand controls:
Hand Control Mechanism: Trolling motors with hand controls feature a handle or tiller that the operator can use to steer the boat. These hand controls are typically easy to use and provide a natural feel, allowing for smooth navigation on the water.
Variable Speed Control: Many trolling motors come equipped with variable speed settings, allowing boaters to adjust the motor's speed to match their desired pace. This flexibility is especially useful for different fishing techniques and conditions.
Quiet Operation: Trolling motors are known for their quiet operation, which is essential for anglers looking to avoid scaring away fish in calm or shallow waters.
Electric Power: Trolling motors are electric-powered, either by a battery or a set of batteries. These motors are more environmentally friendly than traditional gas-powered outboard motors and produce no exhaust emissions.
Thrust Power: Trolling motors are rated in pounds of thrust, which indicates their power. The higher the thrust rating, the more powerful the motor. The appropriate thrust rating depends on factors like the size and weight of your boat and the conditions you'll be boating in.
Control Options: In addition to hand controls, some trolling motors come with additional features such as wireless remote controls or foot pedals. These options offer convenience and versatility for the operator.
Mounting Options: Trolling motors can be mounted in various ways, including bow-mounted and transom-mounted. The choice of mounting location depends on the type of boat and the intended use.
Battery Considerations: To power a trolling motor, you'll need a marine battery or a set of batteries. The type and size of batteries required will depend on the motor's voltage and the duration of use you require.
Maintenance: Trolling motors typically require minimal maintenance, but it's essential to keep them clean and well-lubricated.Regularly inspecting the propeller and motor housing for any debris or damage is also a good practice.
Trolling motors with hand controls are popular among anglers because of their ease of use, quiet operation, and precision in maneuvering boats, especially when fishing in tight spots or near shorelines. When choosing a trolling motor, consider factors like the size of your boat, the type of fishing you do, and the specific features that best suit your needs.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does Minn Kota's quick release mount for the Edge 55 trolling motor |
Answer: | It has spot lock but you will need to buy the heading sensor for the jog feature which allows you to move the boat in 5 ft increments. |
Question: | Is everyone happy with your purchase? I'm considering the Maxuum |
Answer: | US2 is universal sonar, not down/side imagine but, universal. There should be an adapter to make this work with other graphs beside Hummingbird. |
Question: | Can u buy just the mounting bracket |
Answer: | Regarding the top answer, I would not recommend powering this trolling motor with two 12v batteries in series. That is the setup for a 24v motor. If you power this 12v motor with 24v, bad things will happen. However to answer the original question, yes you can run this on your boat without an alternator. I would just not recommend using the same battery you are using to start your engine. Get another deep cycle battery and it will do no harm to run it low, and at the end of the day you can still crank your engine and return to the boat ramp. You could even use two in PARALLEL, and run the motor twice as long. Hope this helps and keeps people from frying their motors!! |
Question: | this is hand control and not a foot pedal as described in description |
Answer: | It is a Summit 2 valve. |
