Answer:	I assume you are talking centimeters because I have never seen a 9 1/2 in book. The bag is not very wide but it does open up to roughly 5" which would be 12.7cm. I sent mine back because it only hold one large text book and a few folders.

Answer:	I generally like this mirror on my road bike with drop bars, but it vibrates like crazy. It is Ok on smooth flat roads at 15mph or so, but if you go 30 mph down a chip-and-sealed road, you won't be able so see anything useful. It helps a little to ride in the drops, where the weight, pressure, and compliance of your hands and arms dampen the vibrations.
