11 best okuma baitcasting lines
Okuma is a well-known brand in the fishing industry, offering a range of fishing gear, including baitcasting reels and fishing lines. When it comes to Okuma baitcasting lines, they are designed to be used with baitcasting reels and are specifically crafted to meet the demands of various fishing situations. Here's what you should know about Okuma baitcasting lines:
High-Quality Materials: Okuma baitcasting lines are typically made from high-quality materials that are chosen to provide strength, durability, and sensitivity. These lines are designed to withstand the rigors of casting and reeling in fish while offering good knot strength.
Line Types: Okuma offers different types of baitcasting lines to cater to various fishing styles and conditions. Common types include monofilament, fluorocarbon, and braided lines:
Monofilament Lines: Monofilament lines are a popular choice for many anglers due to their versatility. They are known for their stretch, which can be useful when fighting fish. Okuma monofilament lines are designed to minimize memory (line coiling) and offer good knot strength.
Fluorocarbon Lines: Fluorocarbon lines are virtually invisible underwater, making them ideal for situations where fish are line-shy. Okuma fluorocarbon lines are known for their low visibility and resistance to abrasion.
Braided Lines: Braided lines offer exceptional strength and sensitivity, making them suitable for casting heavy lures or fishing in heavy cover. Okuma braided lines are designed to be thin yet strong, allowing for longer casts and better control.
Line Pound Test: Okuma baitcasting lines come in various pound test ratings, allowing anglers to choose the right strength for their target species and fishing conditions. The pound test rating indicates the maximum amount of force the line can handle before breaking.
Color Options: Okuma baitcasting lines often come in multiple color options, including clear, green, or high-visibility colors. The choice of color can be important depending on water clarity and visibility preferences.
Performance: Okuma baitcasting lines are designed to perform well in a range of fishing situations. They offer good sensitivity, casting distance, and knot strength, which are crucial aspects for successful baitcasting.
Price Range: Okuma baitcasting lines are typically competitively priced, making them accessible to a wide range of anglers. The cost may vary depending on the line type and pound test rating.
When choosing an Okuma baitcasting line, it's essential to consider your specific fishing needs, the type of fish you're targeting, and the fishing environment you'll be in. Selecting the right line for your baitcasting reel can greatly enhance your fishing experience and increase your chances of success on the water.

Question: | is it good for freshwater fishing |
Answer: | Yes. My favorite reel for river salmon fishing! |
Question: | What line would be best for trolling for kokanee and how much would fill the okuma coldwater 350 low profile linecounter reel |
Answer: | This is a difficult question to answer, because it depends how you are fishing as well as where you are fishing. On of our top pro-staff in the Pacific Northwest that specializes in Kokanee fishing recommends using 10-12 lbs monofilament for his trolling. Monofilament is recommended, because of the stretch factor which helps with the and Kokanee’s soft mouth. The Coldwater 350 holds 250-yds of 12-lbs monofilament |
Question: | Is this reel used for salmon fishing? What is the differences between 354A and 354D |
Answer: | i used it for lake trout and pike fishing with 30 pound braid line |
Question: | Does the line counter on this reel work for surf casting long distances at high speeds |
Answer: | I would not recommend using a counter reel for long cast applications. The added transmission gears that drive the counter will not allow the reel to freespool as freely as casting reel without a counter. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Just wondering what reels you all have been putting on the ML-M inshore rod. I see some Cedros 40 and 50. Just want to get the perfect one. Thanks |
Answer: | I use the Cedros 40clf on mine. I have put a 50 on it too. The 40 manages good sized Redfish, Stripers up to 39" and small Mahi Mahi, Lesser Amberjacks, Bonito, Albacore and Yellow Tail. I use food braid and dampen that with flurocarbon leader. Drag is the issue and line test that will not over stress the rods test weight. I believe you will be happy with the combinations. |
Question: | Just wondering what reels you all have been putting on the ML-M inshore rod. I see some Cedros 40 and 50. Just want to get the perfect one. Thanks |
Answer: | I'd go with the 40. I have the quantum Cabo 40 on it and it balances perfectly. Since everyone has different preference, you should just try it on b4 you buy if you want the perfect match. |
Question: | What is the length of the the longest section? I'm thinking about pack-ability. The product description indicates 16" but that does not add up |
Answer: | I have the NTi-S-703ML-M 7' model this the longest of the three sections is 30" and the case is about 32". It does fit well in the overhead compartment on a plane. |
Question: | What do you think is a better fit/balance for this rod? The Cedros 40 or the 55? Thanks |
Answer: | I would go with the Cedros 40, although I use the the Okuma Avenger ABF65. It has been a great combo for me.. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does it come with a rod clamp |
Answer: | Yes they should. Maybe a little too much. They have a very aggressive adhesive because automobile carpet are treated with so many chemicals you need something that will stick! |
Question: | Is this reel good for saltwater trolling planers |
Answer: | Its not the best quality but it does the job and it’s safe in the heat |
Question: | What are the demontions of this reel |
Answer: | The rolls are 200 feet long, and it's perforated every 21 inches so that's approx 114 sheets per roll. |
Question: | how well does it cast |
Answer: | The back mats are solid black and the frog decal on the front mats are small in comparison to the size of the mat. Also there is a piece of Velcro to help keep the mat in place under the driver's feet that isn't really effective. They are good mats though. Really thick and clean up easily |
