Answer:	Says to do fridge after opening. I do.Throw it in with some drinks when I go golfing...all good...don't know about long unrefrigerated storage.

Answer:	In the description is just says collagen casing...when it came in it said Beef Collagen Casing. Very disappointed since they were for my son who is allergic to beef.
Question:	What's the shelf life (unopened in-cabinet or open in the refrigerator) on this product? CAN they be frozen
Answer:	I buy these a lot in beef and turkey varieties. I'm not a particular stickler for expiration dates, my husband less so. When I first started buying them, I noticed that unopened the pack will last for about 6-8 weeks. Opened, they begin spoiling fast and only lasted me about 2 weeks before they were growing white spots (yuck!). I started refrigerating them because we weren't going through a whole bag very quickly. An opened package lasted about 6-8 weeks in the fridge before the white spots started growing again. My advice if you are refrigerating them: Dont' try and eat them cold from the fridge! The oils aren't warm enough to hold the meat together so they crumble and the taste is really bland/awful. Let them warm up to room temperature or (dare I say) microwave them to take the chill off without cooking them and they'll taste fine. I ALSO tested out freezing part of an opened bag but forgot they were in there for about 3-4 months (pretty good test though). I thawed them in the fridge and they were fine but time catches up to them quickly even refrigerated. They only lasted a couple weeks before the white spots started growing. Hope that helps!

Answer:	Well it says about 12 sticks come in there but both of the packs that I bought had 11 in them each, which is just what the package says "about 12". I was about to complain and say they only gave me 11, and then I looked again and seen that I was assuming they would have 12 in there but then I realized that they told the truth, anyway, they were good.

Answer:	It isn't halal, but is made only with either beef or turkey. There is no MSG and the soy sauce base used is also a low sodium variety so it won't have a powerful salty taste. I recommend the original flavors (both beef and turkey) and I also really like the BBQ with Seoul beef variety. Has the flavor of Korean BBQ, delicious. Jammin' Jamaican is also a very good turkey variety that has the flavor of Jerk Turkey, another interesting one.

Vermont Smoke & Cure utilizes a controlled system to manage allergens to prevent potential cross-contamination. Q: Why is sugar on the ingredients list for some products that contain 0g of sugar?

A: Each of our meat sticks contain 0 to 1 gram of sugar when the production process is complete.

Sugar plays an important role in fermenting our meat sticks and summer sausage, however. During the fermentation process, sugar is consumed by a specific type of culture (bacteria), this bacteria converts the sugar into lactic acid, which lowers the acidity (pH) of the meat stick. To stop the fermentation, we either chill or cook the product. Nutrition fact testing shows that the lactic acid starter culture bacteria consume essentially all of the sugar during this process for our summer sausage, smoked pepperoni and meat sticks.

Combined with cooking, drying, chilling quickly, and vacuum packaging, reducing the pH through the use of sugar and lactic acid starter culture helps naturally preserve our summer sausage, smoked pepperoni and meat sticks.
