Answer:	When making rice, use the solid bowl inside the steaming bowl without the drip tray. When steaming veggies, use the drip tray under the steaming bowl (don't use the solid rice bowl). Proportions for cooking rice are very different than when cooking on the stove. Use 1 cup rice to 1 1/4 cup water or broth; steam 54-57 minutes for brown rice, 37-41 minutes for long grain white rice. Fill line in base to highest line for rice, lowest line for veggies.

Answer:	I agree about the price being outrageous. I have one of these (only paid $19.99 several years ago) and wanted to get one for my son ... but not at that price.
