Question:	how do you remove the bottom to charge the unit
Answer:	Hi Vickie. Holding the feeder upside down, turn the base counterclockwise. It will rotate slightly and then separate from the green piece that has the feeder holes in it. The charging receptacle is in the top of the post. Hope this helps. Ken
Question:	Is this at all water-resistant? I live in Florida and we have a great deal of rainfall. This is a big investment to see ruined in the first storm
Answer:	If there is going to be freezing rain or snow (unlikely in FL) or very heavy, windy rainfall, then it's recommended that you turn off the power (there is a switch right on the feeder). If it's really bad, you can pull out the core (the battery). You just twist the perch and the perch/core combo comes out. You also do this when you need to recharge it. You can leave the actual feeder outside--just remove the battery. Having said that, we are on our second Yankee Flipper after about 15 years with the first one! That first version had no ability to remove the core or turn off, and yet it still lasted that long through Chicago-area rain/snow/wind. The only reason we replaced it is that the battery would no longer charge. That's a really long time for something to work unfailingly! You can always buy a baffle to put over the top if you feel the need. They come in plexiglass, metal or plastic. Hope that helps.
Question:	What do people think about all of the seed that falls out of the large feeding ports
Answer:	If you check the actions of the birds on the feeders with your binoculars, studying them very carefully, I think you will find that most of the seed landing on the ground has been pitched out by the birds themselves and is not falling out of the feeder. I have watched this action myself. I think Mourning Doves are not well understood but they are actually quite beneficial to us. They eat all the weed seed they can find on the ground and it does not pass through their digestive systems to get deposited somewhere else. They consume grit, tiny sharp edged pieces of rock, that serve to grind up the seeds they eat the seeds thus turning the seed into energy for them rather than new weeds "for" us. I use one of these feeders myself with a tray attached underneath. The tray catches a high percentage of discarded seed and it is often eaten by other birds. A feeder tray pays for itself if you want to reduce your offerings to doves and squirrels.
Question:	Not only do I have squirrels but I have a raccoon. Do you think this feeder will withstand the weight of a raccoon
Answer:	I am not sure. It's a very sturdy feeder and squirrels are no problem as once the spinner threw them off they didn't try again. I would suppose that if the raccoons could get it on the ground, they could pry the lid off. You might try wiring the lid on, but they would probably roll it around on the ground until the seeds fell out. You might try suspending it from a small steel cable away from anything they could climb on to reach it. If the feeder remains hanging, I think you may have a chance of keeping them out. Sorry I am not more raccoon savvy, my daughter fights they all the time at her house because they kill her chickens.

Answer:	The birds were not interested in this seed at all. Ended up feeding the squirrels and chipmunks with it. They were not as finicky as he birds

Answer:	I bought the "greatest variety" blend when I first got my feeder. The birds liked that but they go crazy over this stuff. It's rare that I don't have three or even four birds on one tiny feeder. Cardinals, finches, jays, cowbirds, just about everyone comes by for a snack. I even saw a pileated woodpecker once, though he seems to have moved on. I live in the center of the mid-Atlantic states in a fairly densely populated subdivision surrounded by strips of trees.

Answer:	Absolutely none of the seeds are treated or coated with pesticides. That was an issue for Scott's bird seed. Never Wagners bird seed.

Question:	The top metal loop seems to not click in on one side completely as it does on the other. Is this normal or a defect
Answer:	I have 2 of these and one has a suet hook on the bottom. Don’t remember if we removed the screw or if it came with the hook. (Have had it for years!). Looked at my other one and I’m sure the hook could replace the screw.

Answer:	Yes, IF they are smart AND "Athletic" also if the dome is not down low enough that only the very bottom of the seed bowl is available to the birds.. although, it can be very entertaining watching the squirrels figure out how to best your efforts to keep them at bay.

Answer:	I have never seen a woodpecker feed form mine. Not only do the birds cling to the feeding ports, some of them sit inside and gorge themselves (leaving the empty seed shells inside which can clog up the ports).

Answer:	Any aeed can be used in this feeder. Squirrels aren't very fond of Nyger seeds so that may be a good option for this feeder.

Answer:	The light is roughly 600 lumens on high, however lumens really does not tell you how well you will really be able to see under the feeder. Our light uses a special lens plate that helps spread the light out over a greater distance so that you can see a much larger area of light compared to most other feeder lights. When mounted 6'-7' high the light will light light up an area approximately 50' in diameter.

Answer:	I bought at least three of these Erva pole set ups. I love them. I just measured the one outside and from the soil level of my garden up to the top of the pole section where you then add your topper is about 80 inches. The section that you screw down into the ground is 20 inches long but that is all screwed underground. So, at the top of the 80 inch pole, you then add the topper with arms. The total length of the topper to the very tip might be about 8-12 inches, but part of that screws into the pole. And the arms stick out lower than the very tippy top. So basically, the total pole from the ground to the very tippy top of the topper is around 87 inches but the arms extend out around the 81 or 82 inch mark.
Question:	I have a very old A-6-3 (DY) tube feeder and want to add a seed catcher to it. Would this work
Answer:	Yes it will! Thank you
Question:	What is the diameter of the hole in the middle? I would like to use it on a 1" pole
Answer:	From the ground the total pole, before adding the topper with the arms, is around 80 inches depending if you really screw it fully down into the dirt. The section that screws underground is 20 inches but you screw it all the way down into your garden. Then at the top of the 78 or 80 inch pole, you add your topper with the arms for hanging the feeders. That will be another 8 inches to the very tippy top of the topper. But the hooks for the feeders are hanging around the 82 inch mark

Question:	If the dome is lowered enough to allow cardinals, can the blue jays get into it? thank you
Answer:	No. I have 2 of mine lowered enough for finches, chickadees and titmouse solely. Too low for cardinals. The other 2 are just a bit higher for cardinals, but blue jays cannot manage it. Have them hanging from hooks suctioned on my windows . . . so no squirrels either.
Question:	Will this work for feeding Robins
Answer:	No. I did some research, and Robins are more ground feeders. This is actually more for cardinals and their relatives. Works very well too!
Question:	Is there a way to replace the little ring that adjusts/holds up the top? Mine broke after only a month thanks to blackbirds trying to get into it
Answer:	Are you talking about the little black rubber piece? You can unscrew the metal rod from the base. I like doing things on the cheap, so I would just take a small rubber band and wrap it around the rod a few times until it is snug and then push it up to meet the plastic top piece. Replace it when it goes bad. You could take the rod to your local hardware and see if they have any tiny rubber washer or whatever that would fit on the rod. Hope that helps.
Question:	Is this large enough for bluebirds
Answer:	Yes it is, HOWEVER.....it does NOT hold a lot. We have 2 other feeders for the dried meal worms (we buy the 11 lbs at a time and mix with the nuggets!)Another one we have is also from Amazon "Droll Yankees X1 seed feeder" for $21.49 + Free shipping and we like it because it's larger and deeper, holds more! The other is a blue color 2 section square and is domed and holds quite a bit, though we are constantly filling all 3! I THOUGHT we bought it through Amazon, though I can not find it listed. There is another from Amazon "Unipet USA PMF1 premium" for $13.77 + shipping which is 7x7 and would hold quite a bit. Good luck! We have SO many Bluebirds as well as Nuthatch's and Titmouse' that love the meal worms as well!

Answer:	Step 1: Switch to moisture/pH/light position according to which you demand to test Step 2: Insert the probe into the soil about 2-4 inches Step 3: Adjust the position of the probe until the pointer on the dial swing slightly Step 4: Check moisture/pH/light level in the dial after 10 minutes ,now you get the result you need Step 5: Remove probe from soil and wipe clean after each use.

Answer:	I haven't had that happen so not sure what is going wrong with yours. Which of the three parameters are you measuring? You have to be sure you have selected the right setting ie: for moisture -- be sure it is set to the moisture setting. Are you plunging the prongs in to the appropriate depth? Do you wipe the prongs off with a cloth after each plunge? 1. The moisture or pH values are different for different depths of your spot soil. 2. In order to get more accurate readings, the soil meter needs to be inserted into soil 4 inches or deeper(about 2/3 of the probes) Hope you get it working the way it should -- good luck！！

Answer:	under the sensor there are three tiny dials. Although it didn't come with instructions turn the dial for motion higher or lower to detect motion.

Question:	Can i use sunflowers for this feeder
Answer:	Mine is mounted above the lock on the outside. However, there is a storm door in front of it so it will not receive any direct weather. It is applied with some pretty sturdy 2-sided tape. I think you should be okay. We just went through some bitter cold here and it did not budge.
