Answer:	The Raven Pro itself contains the software to run the machine. It can work without a computer. Scanned documents can be stored on the "cloud", or a USB drive. Although I have not tried it, they probably can be stored on your computer as well.

Answer:	If the destination is on your LAN, all you need to know is the IP or domain name and any UN/PW to scan to it. But really scanning to a cloud service makes the most sense, particularly if you use Win10, in which case OneDrive is omnipresent, so you can just scan to your OneDrive account. You also can scan using TWAIN either over USB, or TWAIN over your LAN. Or you can scan to email. You can also scan to a USB thumbdrive that you plug into the scanner.

Answer:	The Brother ADS-1200 document scanner has a curved document path, so it would not be good for scanning sports cards. When scanning media such as card stock, Brother recommends scanning with a straight document path scanner.
Question:	if i scan multiple pages can i send each individual page to different files and relabel each page differently
Answer:	It doesn't work - regardless of the thickness of the paper. The scanner is horrible. Pages are cut off and/or crooked. Do not waste your money.

Answer:	The ADS-1250W Scanner does not have any OCR Card Scanning Software in the box.
Question:	This one is $70 cheaper than the AD-1700 which seems the only difference is the screen on the front. Can anyone tell me a benefit of spending extra
Answer:	I wasn't able to get this model to connect to my wifi, maybe a bug with the software. Gave up after 1.5 hrs, sent it back and got the AD-1700. Connected to my wifi in 5 minutes using the LCD menus--way easier.
Question:	Would this be a good quality photo scanner, including older photos
Answer:	Generally, you're going to want a flatbed scanner for photos. If you only have a few heirloom photos to scan, I would personally take them to a place that specializes in photo scanning, and not bother with owning my own flatbed scanner. It's kind of like photo printing; you don't need to own your own dedicated photo-quality printer when the Staples up the street would do a better job for less price.

Answer:	It has 600dpi option. However, there are scanners that have 1200dpi out there, 600dpi is pretty good but not perfect, but it could be good enough for you. There is an auto-cropping functionality, so it will crop the scan to just the size of the image. However, there could be situations that this feature doesn't work super well such as cropping too much or too less when the photo is a little bit tilted. Overall, if you have a LOT of photos, this can be used for quick backing up purpose.

Answer:	Yes, I used my kindle hd a/c adapter as well as my nokia cellphone a/c adapter, both worked just fine. I've even charged with the same USB cables in my 12 volt charger in my vehicle. Of course with an usb adapter for the 12 volt.
Question:	Can I scan old photos with it
Answer:	Yes, you can scan old photos with it provided they fit the width. It's not the best for the purpose but certainly better than not scanning old photos at all. If the surfaces are slippery you may need to give the photo a gentle push through it as the rollers pull it through. You can even scan photos ripped completely in two by feeding both parts in simultaneously. The problem with faded photos is that this scanner doesn't have a high dynamic range. So when you pull the resulting scan into your photo editor for optimization ("un-fading") you might get some banding and noise. But if the photos are not faded then it works reasonably well. A flatbed scanner will sometimes be rated as 12 bits per pixel; this portable scanner isn't rated but cannot be more than 8 because that is the dynamic range of JPEG. For instance, suppose your entire photo was faded such that the darkest part was a light grey. In 8 bit you have values 0 through 255; light grey is 16 lets say. You can optimize, spread it out to black and white but you still have only 16 values and it is going to look banded and posterized. But if you have 4096 values between white and black, and your faded photo is using only 256, well then when you save it as a JPEG or GIF it will have the full entire range possible with JPEG and the un-faded photo will usually look great without banding. A good camera also works. I shoot old photos with a high-dynamic range camera and macro lens (Nikon D700 works exceptionally well for this purpose), it offers an astonishing 14 bits per pixel and is also a whole lot faster than a scanner and eliminates having to unmount the photos. But several thousand dollars for a suitable camera versus less than $200 for a reasonably good scanner, well, I take my little scanner everywhere I go and use it pretty much every day. The USB socket is broken so I charge my battery on a power supply and use the SD memory card to transfer scans to my computer but it still works and it is pretty good. It is pretty good for a related project, scanning your old magazines that have articles worth keeping but you don't want all that paper. Just cut out the articles and feed it through the scanner. Since it captures front and back, it is fast and easy.
