Aluminum wire is soft and it wouldn't make it from the machine to the torch handle so you'd want a spool gun (which would cost twice as much as this chintzy welder). So yes you can use a DC welder to weld aluminum, just not this welder. Probably cost you nearer to $1000 to get a capable setup for aluminum. |

The problem is that after you use if for just a little while, the trigger mechanism gets clogged by glue backing up into the chamber so that you only get a tiny bit of glue dispensed when you pull the trigger. At first, I thought the glue gun was great, but I only thought that for a very short time. |

Once the threaded end is secure in the power pin cut some of the front end off with lineman pliers or something similar. Next, take your diffuser and measure the distance that the liner goes in. You want the liner to mount flush to the bottom of your gas diffuser to minimize any chance of having a feed issue. Once you have the liner cut to the proper length, you can then put the front end back together and you are ready to weld. |

| Answer: | I don't advise using this for fine/detail work. I just did a door and two windows and couldn't apply a clean bead with a 3/16" hole. Since it was exterior, I cleaned up the excess until it was "good enough" but it was not as nice as it would have been if I used a manual gun. This unit is designed to relieve the pressure when you release the trigger. To get the caulk to flow again, you press the trigger and the plunger takes a moment to build up pressure. You can't "bump" the trigger to get a small amount of caulk, because each time you release the trigger the plunger backs off again. This "feature" helps prevent caulk from continuing, but the slowest speed is easily 2-3 times faster than I'd like for clean detail work. |
