Answer:	I haven't tried them outside but they seem to be very sturdy, almost like a 10 mil. I think they might hold up to the weather, but I imagine the outside would scuff eventually.

Answer:	I have doubled the laminate...meaning laminate once then put it in another laminate sheet & run it through the laminator. It helps that everything stays together

Answer:	The 5ml is thicker. I use both for 8 1/2x11. Both are flat but 5 won't bend unless you really want it to. 3ml lays flat for sheets but you can bend it. I hope that helps. I use mine in a classroom and they hold up well but use 5ml if I'm concerned about kids bending them.

Question:	Can you cut the sheets
Answer:	Yes you can cut them. There is one factory edge which holds the cut pieces together. You would want a portion of the factory edge if you did cut them. I prefer to simply order the various sizes I need. Cutting a 8.5 x 11" sheet into smaller pieces would likely waste some of the material as the factory edge is on the 8.5" side.

Answer:	You sure can....it works great! I am a preschool teacher and do this often to make games! Just be sure are careful they don't slide as you insert the pouch in the laminator....they will stay if you use a little finesse! I like the 5 ml ;)

Answer:	These are high-gloss with a minimal amount of UV protection. The reflectivity is comparable or exceeds that of Scotch Brand laminating pouches.

Answer:	Yes. I use the amazon brand (basics) which, by the way is a great machine! I have had zero issues and used many other apache and other brands with no problems. My machine will work with 3 and 5 Mil laminating materials.

Answer:	These pouches are seamed on the short side like the 8 1/2" (width) side of a sheet of printer paper.

Answer:	5 mil is .005 inch thick for each side of the pouch. 3 mil is .003 inch thick for each side of the pouch. A stack of 100 5 mil pouches is exactly one inch tall. 3 mil is fine for one time use or if you are storing the document away or in a binder. 5 mil is better if you will use the document in the field. I agree with the other users who said that Apache's 5 mil pouches are only actually 4 mil. Various other brands I've bought don't have that issue.

Answer:	You can trim around your paper leaving some space around it and it will stay sealed. If you trim too close to your papers, the laminated sheet will peel.? But you have to run everything through the laminating machine first.

Answer:	I believe is is 3 mil thick. I have purchased from other companies both 3 mil and 5 mil. You would only need 5 mil for an extra duty protection. The 3 mil thickness works for almost everything that you need. On occasion I do use 5 mil thick when I know my preschool students are going to handle something quite a bit. I would recommend the 3 mil thickness to start with on your laminating.

Answer:	These are 5 mil which I would say is about an average thickness. 3 mil is used a lot also.
Question:	What's the difference between 3mil and 5 mil
Answer:	Other than the obvious 2 miles of thickness, the 5 mil will give a stiffer feel and more resiliency. You have to have a laminator that will slow the feed speed down in order to get a good adhesion, though. If you don’t, they come apart after a bit of rough handling. Light usage and general office treatment, 3 mils, works fine and they are more flexible. Almost like a sleeve application, that’s water proof. Rough use or going outdoors...? Go 5 mil and spend the few bucks for the dual choice lammy.

LAMINATING CARRIERS:

Lamination carriers consist of single folded card stock slightly larger than your laminating pouch and have silicone coating treatment inside to prevent pouches from sticking to it. If not heated too highly, good quality carriers are reusable for numerous pouch laminations.

• Many of today’s pouch laminators have silicone rubber rollers that do not require the use of laminating carriers; however, we do recommend the use of carriers to extend the life of the rollers in your machine and improve lamination results.
• Here’s why: During the lamination process, all laminating pouches generate a small amount of adhesive squeeze out past the edge of the pouch which can accumulate on your machine’s rollers. That excess adhesive dries, cracks and eventually ruins the laminator rollers. Carriers protect the rollers from excess adhesive and extend the life of your laminator.
• Also, This adhesive will likely show as very thin lines on additional pouches run through afterward. It can be removed with rubbing alcohol; however, using a carrier catches that excess adhesive without leaving traces on your next pouch.
• And, Carriers protect the exterior of your pouch from scratching during the laminating process, which may occur when running through the cooling plates at the back of your laminator (if equipped).

Note: Using carriers requires a bit more heat or less speed to seal laminating pouches. If your laminator does not have a speed or temperature adjustment, carriers may prevent your pouches from sealing completely or require multiple passes through the laminator.

LAMINATING TIPS:

• For customers with adjustable temperature laminators who are trying a new brand, we recommend lowering the temperature approximately 25 degrees F for the first sheet or two. Users can always re-run laminate that was not run hot enough and seems foggy, but you cannot fix blister bubbles caused by running too hot the first time.
• Laminators with speed control can achieve a cooler result by trying a faster speed at first. Then, slow the speed as necessary to achieve perfect laminating results. Generally, setting the perfect temperature and speed will be done just once for each thickness of laminating pouch; however, temperature requirements may also be affected by large dark solid colors which draw more heat.
• Sheets should not be laminated until at least 24 hours after being printed. This is especially true for laser and digital output. Allowing printed sheets to be open to air for extended time before laminating will increase adhesive grip. DO NOT ROLL UP laminated prints until adhesive has cured completely.
• Customers who plan to trim sheets after laminating (flush or multiple cards per pouch) should wait at least 24 hours to allow adhesive to cure. Curing will produce a cleaner and more professional cut.
• Industry standard specification for 3 mil laminating pouches is 3 mil on each flap for a total of 6 mils added to your paper and 1 mil equals 1/1000th of an inch and 25 microns metric.
• The lamination industry calls these laminating pouches yet they are sealed on only one edge, like a file folder.

Answer:	I would think it would work great as long as you keep a wide edge of the laminate around the edges. It’s much more durable than the 3 mm.

Answer:	I have a Scotch laminator I bought years ago. These sheets work beautifully with it. I run my projects off on regular paper, rather than cardstock, then use the 5 mil. to protect them which in my opinion gives adequate durability.

I use 48lb brochure paper, if I use a consumer laminator the seal is not close to the edge but I bought a better laminator and the gap is barely noticable.Thicker paper will always cause more gap. We make menus with this product and cut the edges off. Lamination is always more durable if you leave about 1/8" all around but I like the clean edge when it's cut off. Our menus are used by 30,000 customers every month and still last 4 months.
