User questions & answers
Question: | Does The 22-piece set actually come with 22 knifes ? I just got the set and it was missing a few knifes, like the large chopping knife |
Answer: | I got the smaller set (w/o the steak knives), and I can tell you that the wood storage block counts as one of the pieces. My block had a couple of "free" (empty) slots for me to add knives. If they say 22 pieces, I'd count to see if you got 22 (which would also include the steel for sharpening). You could also count the slots to see if there are more than 21, which would explain any empty slots. As for the large chopping knife, my set did include it and I got it. Read the description and it will tell you what knives would be included... I saw that it said there both 8-inch and 10-inch chef's knives. By the way, I've had mine for several months and I LOVE these knives! |
Question: | Are these knifes China made |
Answer: | If you move your cursor over the photo, it'll magnify where you can see the knife with the serrated edge is etched with "Swiss Made." So, they are not made in China, but in Switzerland. |
Question: | I know this is a Swiss company but where are the knives actually made |
Answer: | If I bought the knives for my daughter so not sure where they were made. |
Question: | It looks like the block comes with two extra spaces, is that true |
Answer: | Yes, there are two extra spaces. You can fit a larger chef's knife in the top slot. |

User questions & answers
Question: | I just received this knife set. Only the bread knife has "Fibrox" written on the handle. Did I receive the wrong items |
Answer: | No, I own bunch of Fibrox Victorinox knives, and they do not all say it on the handle. I think it has to do with when the handles were actually formed. They are made in a form and they may change the handle shape or wording |
Question: | Two of the knives in this set do not say 'Fibrox' on the handles, while the other two do. Are they still the right items or should I return them |
Answer: | Even though it doesn't say "Fibrox" for them, the picture shows the handles the same. The non-Fibrox handles (Redwood) that they make are much more expensive and must be hand washed. Recommend keeping them if you like the knives. They are good ones and the Fibrox handles hold up well and are comfortable to use. |
Question: | Where are these knives made? Description says blades are "hand finished" in Switzerland ... not that the knives themselves are actually made there |
Answer: | The literature says they are made in Switzerland, though it's possible the raw plastic for the handles comes from elsewhere. Doesn't matter anyway, you'll love these knives. |
Question: | dishwasher safe |
Answer: | I use a dishwasher all the time. Steel tempering happens at ~400 - 600 degrees - my dishwasher only achieves those temperatures on the "melt my dinnerware" cycle. Knives become dull with time because of use. Learn to sharpen your knives or have them sharpened. Dishwasher has nothing to do with it. |

About us
In 1884, Karl Elsener opened his cutler’s workshop in Ibach-Schwyz. At this time Switzerland was still one of the poorer countries in Europe. In the early years Karl Elsener worked to combat poverty and unemployment in the Schwyz basin, creating jobs and helping stem the flow of emigration.
In 1891 he supplied the soldier’s knife to the Swiss Army for the first time. He went on to develop the Swiss Officer’s and Sports Knife – now the iconic Swiss Army Knife – in 1897, creating the foundation for a flourishing company that would be able to hold its own on the world stage.
From then on, his spirit of solidarity, deep roots in the region and strong commitment to solid values shaped the Victorinox company philosophy.
Today, Victorinox is a global company with five product categories: Swiss Army Knives, Household and Professional Knives, Watches, Travel Gear and Fragrances. The Swiss Army Knife is the core product and has a pioneering role in the development of all product categories.

User questions & answers
Question: | Will these stick to a knife magnetic strip |
Answer: | It came with a clear plastic vinyl cover with a freezer bag type plastic zipper on it. You could use it as a cover. I keep mine hanging on my wall tool organizer. |
Question: | Are these knives full tang |
Answer: | Thank you for your question. You can buy the blades replaceable on products page. |
Question: | Does the knife set come in a box |
Answer: | Not sure but would depend on how much use the blade gets. Mine is still sharp after 6 months |
Question: | Do these knives come with a protective plastic sheath |
Answer: | Honestly, this saw will do almost anything you need. If you’re just getting started, get this and use it until you find a need for something else. If you find yourself doing incredibly fine work, you might want to get a dozuki, but it’s really not necessary. If you find yourself working really large chunks of wood you might want a kataba. |
Product description
Do you know what the two most used knives are in the kitchen? The paring and the chef's knife. Amazon has put two of their best reviewed knives together along with a honing steel to keep them sharp at an affordable price. These two knives have already been touted as bargains compared to others that cost three times as much by leading consumer magazines. The blades are hand-crafted by master cutlers in Switzerland and carry a lifetime guarantee against manufacturer's defects. The stamped blades are made of the highest quality steel found in many forged blades, but the way the steel is treated is the secret to why the steel stays sharp longer than the competition. These knives are sharpened at a 15 degree angle which is commonly found on Asian style knives and comes in at a 54-56 Rockwell hardness. This is the ideal Rockwell that will allow you to hone the blade again and again and bring back the original factory edge without having to take it to get professionally sharpened. It's the main reason why most butchers have been using our knives since the 1930s. Feel confident that when you bring these home, you bring home the same Swiss quality, engineering and value people have come to expect from Victorinox since 1884.
- Set includes two workhorse blades, the Swiss Classic 8" Chef's Knife and the 3.25" paring knife and a 10" honing steel to keep them sharp
- Our two best-selling knives can accomplish almost any task in your meal prep
- 8" Chef's Knife is our best-selling knife and has been recommended by consumer magazines as the best value in its category
- Commercial grade blades made of high-carbon, no stain steel stay sharper longer than the competition
- All knives made in Switzerland; honing steel made in China

User questions & answers
Question: | What are the pros/cons for fibrox ffp vs. rosewood |
Answer: | FFP just stands for frustration free packaging. Fibrox handles are a light weight, durable plastic that can be put in the dishwasher. Rosewood handles are not dishwasher safe and it is recommended to treat the handles occasionally with conventional cooking oil to refresh the wood grain and prevent the ingress of moisture. |
Question: | Has the wooden handle deteriorated due to washing with water daily for anyone using this knife so long, through the years? wood doesn't like water |
Answer: | I do something terrible with these knives. I run them through the dishwasher once, which removes most of the clear finish on the handle. I then sand the wood with very fine (220 grit) sandpaper until they are smooth, bare wood. Then I oil them to within an inch of their lives with Boos Butcher Block Mystery Oil. I only hand wash after that and re-oil as needed. 20+ years on of practically daily use and they are still beautiful and functional. |
Question: | which would you recommend the Fibrox or the Rosewood handle |
Answer: | It really is personal preference. The Rosewood has the advantage of a better appearance. The Fibrox has a more secure grip but not as attractive. The cutting edge is the same.Chefs Corner Store |
Question: | Does this knife come with a sheath to protect the blade in a drawer? And I'm not talking about a folded over piece of plastic/cardboard |
Answer: | No, it comes in a package that consists of cardboard backing and clear plastic over top of knife that is molded to form over knife to keep it in place until the knife is removed from the packaging. Once removed there is nothing to protect the knife. |

User questions & answers
Question: | does it need frequnt sharpening |
Answer: | How frequently you need to sharpen any knife is based on the frequency of use! I am really happy with all of the Victorinox knives that I own - this one gets less use and therefore less sharpening! But they all tend to hold an edge and are extremely sharp plus they're an excellent value for the cost. |
Question: | Is this knife good for slicing raw meat too. Sometimes I buy a beef tenderloin and cut it into steaks |
Answer: | This knife is good for slicing raw meat however it works a lot better when the meat is partially frozen so the meat will retain its shape as you slice it. I find this knife the best that I have ever used for slicing in uniform thickness if you do a little freezing first. dbf [email protected] |

CARE AND USE

CLEANING
Victorinox Swiss Army recommends washing all knives by hand. For best results, hand wash your knives with a soapy cloth and dry immediately.
While Fibrox Pro knives are dishwasher safe, we recommend hand washing as dishwashers are designed to spray water at a relatively high pressure, which can jostle the silverware and cause the knives to collide, dulling the edge.
SHARPENING
For optimum performance, knives should be honed after every couple of uses. Proper and frequent use of a honing steel will keep your knives sharper and performing at their best.

User questions & answers
Question: | Do these knives come with a quality box |
Answer: | It depends on the knife. All of them are made to operate as they are intended to be used and are well balanced. Using the steak knives for instance. I can cut my chosen bite of food and place the knife directly on the table without the blade ever touching the surface of the table. The various food preparation knives are amazing to use. I can cut slices of tomatoes without holding the tomatoes in place. Very impressive knives. |
Question: | Will these blades fit into a knife block with 1" wide slots |
Answer: | Not that I know of, but they need sharpening right out of the box. They look great but don't perform all that well. |
Question: | Anyone having issues with a distinct smell |
Answer: | Very hard to find this information, but they appear to be assembled in China with Japanese steel. |
Question: | do these knives come with a quality box |
Answer: | Thank you for your question, it's about 4 oz. The weight displayed on the page is the package weight. |
