Compact, one-piece unit protect hands while slicing foods when using the Börner V-Slicers (sold separately). Adjustable pusher and prongs pierce food with a secure hold, allowing you to safely glide it along the blade with little pressure. Serrated edge efficiently pushes food off the slicer.

This handy food holder keeps fingers and knuckles away from sharp blades on slicers and graters. When gentle pressure with a thumb or finger is applied to the top button, prongs on the holder secure any size fruit or vegetable, or piece of hard cheese or meat, and allow the entire length of the food item to be sliced. Answer:	Mine was stained with carrot juice. I ran it through the dishwasher and the stain was removed.
Question:	can this be used as a holder for grating vegetables
Answer:	You do not have to touch any blades. The horizontal blade actually does not move. The knob on the side of the mandoline rotates a cam that adjusts the platform height relative to the fixed blade. That is what sets the thickness . To rotate the knob simply push it in and twist to the desired thickness, from 1mm (paper thin) to 7mm or to a julienne slice of 3.5mm or 5.5mm.

Answer:	There isn't one. There ARE two different models and one has a dial. Keep looking and you will see the difference. This one makes chips you can read the newspaper through! One of my go to kitchen tools.
Question:	Does it have a hand guard
Answer:	You can't. This model has a fixed thickness. Kyocera has a similar/upgrade model which is adjustable, but I don't have that one so I can't comment on it. THIS model, I feel, is a very nice piece of kitchen equipment if you semi-regularly wish to slice food items very thin. I use it for certain vegetables when I want something thin that will melt-in-the-mouth, or saute pan.IMO, if you slice a lot of foods and need different thicknesses, personally, I'd use my knifes. Or, buy a small slicing machine if I was doing A LOT of it. But your mileage may vary

Answer:	No. This model DOES NOT have the adjustable blade for thickness. I wish it did, but for the price it is a good tool as long as you want VERY THIN slices. I'll take a guess (without measuring) that it slices at about 3mm thickness. I think Kyocera makes another version with adjustable slice thickness (I think? I'm not going to bother to research right now), but I still like this one based on the reasonable price and the quality of the device. For $20 hard to go wrong. A good kitchen tool for when you want to produce a lot of thin slices of some food item very rapidly.
