The stainless steel floor of the container definitely gets a coating of the minerals in our water. This is easily removed every few months by boiling then soaking with white vinegar and water followed by a little scrubbing. The result sparkles.

Answer:	The majority of the parts of the kettle where water or steam touch are stainless steel or glass. There is a narrow rubber seal that connects the stainless steel burner to the glass pot on the bottom and also a rubber seal that helps secure the metal lid to the top of the pot but that is it. I returned several electric kettles before I bought this one and this was the only one that didn't give the water a plastic/chemical taste. Mr Coffee must use a better quality rubber seal than other brands. Hope that helps!

When water comes in contact with these metals some oxidization may occur which may for some people change the taste of water. 2. Overstayed water results in limescale buildup which maybe “mistaken” for Rust. Emptying Kettle after each use will protect and increase the durability of the appliance. Answer:	According to the United States Department of Agriculture Food Safety and Inspection Service, at sea level, water boils at 212 °F. With each 500-feet increase in elevation, the boiling point of water is lowered by just under 1 °F. At 2,000 feet above sea level the boiling temperature of water is 208 °F instead of 212 °F. At 7,500 feet water boils at about 198 °F. Because water boils at a lower temperature at higher elevations, foods that are prepared by boiling or simmering will cook at a lower temperature, and it will take longer to cook. To compensate for the lower boiling point of water, the cooking time must be increased. Turning up the heat will not help cook food faster. No matter how high the cooking temperature, water cannot exceed its own boiling point – unless using a pressure cooker. Question:	I received my tea maker today and the indicator light won't turn on, but the base gets hot, anyone else have this issue
Answer:	It probably works. The light on mine does work, but it's gotta be in a dark corner for me to see it on. In any case, unplug it after it's done working, after 10-12 minutes or so. To better steep tea in this device, bend two jumbo paper clips so they lie flat in the tea bucket but stick down through the little hole 1/2 inch or so. This enables hot water to back up in the tea bucket, and tea bags actually steep. Otherwise, the hole is too large so the hot water runs out quickly, wetting the tea bags but not really steeping them. With this "hack", she's a great tea-maker that takes up minimal counter space.
