User questions & answers
Question: | Where do you get the filters |
Answer: | Yes it only releases water to a certain level. Has a spring loaded cap that dispenses as needed. There is a wicking filter that has to be replaced occasionally. It has a humidity control that you set for your comfort level. |
Question: | Are the wick and filter the same thing |
Answer: | Holds one bottle full which is 2-1/2 gallons. Unless it is really cold out, one bottle lasts 24 hours. Best is to plan filling it up first thing in the morning and that will last 24 hours. When it is mild out (75 ° in KC today) one bottle will last 2 days. |
Question: | Is the Copper night selection model hd3120dcn |
Answer: | I live in the desert so on "Low" I would have to fill it twice a day, on "High" I would have to fill it 3 times a day. |
Question: | The top of the filter housing on mine only connects on the two front tabs. The back of the housing just sits on top of filter. Is this correct |
Answer: | Sort of hard to say - since it's subjective. I keep mine outside my bedroom door - on the first speed - and it doesn't bother me at all. Sort of just a low fan sound - about the same as the heat kicking on and off. I don't notice it at all. However, all of the other speeds, in my opinion, are very loud. It goes up to 5 - and that sounds like a 747 idling. I guess if you had it in some remote location and wanted to crank it up, the higher speeds would work. I live in a 1200 sq ft townhome and, set at 45, it keep the upstairs (where it is) at about 45% and the downstairs at about 35%. Perfect for me. I'm really happy with it. No more shocking all the pets with static electricity! |

User questions & answers
Question: | I have had this unit a year and now the F flashes even though it's full. And it doesn't turn on consistently. Any thoughts |
Answer: | There is a plastic tubular piece that should slide up and down to warn water is low (F). Lime / calcium build up and seize it or it doesn't get seated right on the switch. Im going on my third year with this unit. Beats Holmes / Sunbeam, etc. in its ability to cover my 2 bdrm apartment at 45% when its cold and dry outside. The others always end up leaking or making squeaking noises. |
Question: | why does my humidifer show F |
Answer: | Mine did the same thing when I received it. I called the factory in AR and they told me to turn the fan unit upside down and find a silver bar about 2" long. Spring the bar down a little so it will make contact with the water float directly beneath. Spring it ever so slightly and then a second or third time if necessary so as not to damage the switch. Once I did that the fan could be identified as F1, F2, F3, F4, or A. Be sure to plug and unplug the unit each time an adjustment is made so the machine can reset. |
Question: | How often do you need to replace the filter if you run it every day |
Answer: | Once in early November when I get the homie out. Replace it in January. I use both a bacteria stat and a liquid descaler which I squirt a little in when I refill the tank. Avoids smell and makes the filters work better. You can buy them premixed in liquid form. The better your wick works the less the humid will run and presumably it will last longer. I’m still using my old kenmore which I’ve had for several years. |
Question: | does white dust occurs |
Answer: | The "white dust" the questioner is asking about is mineral deposits from water when the water is sprayed into the air. This is an evaporative humidifier where water evaporates off of a wick, not a spray atomizer that sprays water into the air along with the minerals in the water. All of the minerals will remain in the wick of the humidifier, requiring the wick to be replaced. The higher the calcium content in your water, the more frequently you will need to replace the wick. |
Question: | Aren’t these washable |
Answer: | No, they are not washable... |
Question: | Ma1040 superwick by essick air, i am looking for |
Answer: | I think it is. I use it in my tabletop humidifier. |
Question: | Will these fit the d46720 model |
Answer: | It fits the tabletop model that I have which is rated for 1000 sq ft. The next size up available on Amazon is a tower model and the manufacturer info says that model uses dual (I assume that means it takes 2) 1040 filters. Hope this helps |
Question: | Actual filter size |
Answer: | The actual size for the filter cartridge is: H=8 1/2 by W=1 1/2 by L=8 3/4 inches. These are overall measurements of the cartridge. The actual filter dimensions are 7 5/8 by 7 5/8 by 1 1/2. Hope this helps. |
Product features
Trapmax Filter Technology
The exclusive Trapmax system traps unwanted mineral deposits and cleans air naturally.
To maintain maximum efficiency, wick filters should be replaced at least once per season, or more often under hard water conditions.
Caring for Your Wick
How Often Should I Replace My Wick?
We recommend changing your wick every 30-90 days, but your water quality will ultimately dictate your wick’s replacement frequency. Areas with very hard or very soft water will typically require more frequent wick changes, since your wick is working harder to filter your water. Keeping your humidifier clean will help this.
Can I Clean My Wick?
No. Our wicks are made of highly absorbent paper, which makes them great for wicking water, but not sturdy enough to withstand scrubbing or a run through the dishwasher. Cleaning your humidifier regularly is the best way to keep your wick clean.
How Do I Replace My Wick?
Wick replacement instructions vary by model, but changing a wick is pretty easy to do. You’ll find your model’s instructions in your owner’s manual.
AIRCARE Console Evaporative Humidifier, MA1201
This evaporative humidifier from AIRCARE is sure to complement any decor. It has an easy single bottle design. This humidifier works to add invisible moisture to your environment by moving dry air through a saturated wick filter.
Benefits of Humidication
Evaporative humidifiers are a great solution for adding much needed humidity to dry indoor air. By raising indoor relative humidity levels to 43% or above, 86% of airborne flu virus particles are rendered powerless. Maintaining proper humidity levels also helps treat allergy symptoms by soothing dryness, itchiness, and irritation in the nose, nasal passages, sinuses, mouth, throat, and eyes. Many people think pet hair is the cause of allergies, but in reality, the cause of allergens from pets is actually from their dander. Adding moisture to the air reduces pet dander and other airborne allergens. Properly humidified environments can decrease or eliminate static electricity, reducing the chance of damage to sensitive electronic equipment like laptops, desktop computers, tablets, TV’s, stereo systems, etc. Evaporative Humidification not only produces comfortable/healthy air, it is also an extremely effective way to save money on energy cost. Adding humidity to the air allows you to remain comfortable at lower thermostat settings. 'The rule of thumb is that you can save about 3% on your heating bill for every degree that you set back your thermostat,' says Bill Prindle, deputy director for the non-profit American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. This means evaporative humidification could save you up to 10% on your energy bill.

User questions & answers
Question: | Does this drop the room temperature a few degrees ? Does it make the room cooler |
Answer: | are Filters included |
Question: | How well does it manage humidity without a hygrometer or built in humistat? IE has anyone had over humidification issues |
Answer: | It has four filters in the bottom of the unit. They do look like “wicks” I don’t see a separate wick of any other kind. |
Question: | What humidity % is this able to get your house up to |
Answer: | I am not mamiliarnwith that model |
Question: | Having a really hard time with filters. Mine aren't even lasting two weeks. How do you make them last |
Answer: | There should be 4 tabs on each lower housing (the housing that hold the filters), and there should also be 4 corresponding slots on each top filter housing. The lower housing should have two tabs sticking straight up in the front, and two tabs sticking horizontally out the back. The two tabs in the back are just flat tabs, and they are supposed to just slide into the two slots in the back of the top housing. The two front tabs on the lower housing are shaped such that they will "snap" into the two slots in the front of the top housing. The tabs on the back of the lower housing are used to align the top housing with the lower housing, and to help keep it in place. Check to see if the lower housings on your unit have the tabs in the back, and if the top housings have the slots for them. |
Question: | Where do you get the filters |
Answer: | No. You'll need 1/4" copper tubing, 6" duct tubing to go from supply side of humidifier to the return air duct, a suitable 6" circular duct to fasten to the hole you'll make in the return air duct, bell wire to run from controller to voltage reduction transformer. Do yourself a favor and get a roll of foil tape for taping up seams and leaks. |
Question: | Are the wick and filter the same thing |
Answer: | Works quite well in my 2300 sf house. Was built in '92 so not too old but still not as sealed up tight like recent construction. From what I have observed, the humidifier doesn't run all the time and humidity levels have stayed constant even with fluctuating outside temps. |
Question: | Is the Copper night selection model hd3120dcn |
Answer: | Yes, it can be changed from left to right. Basically turn the main part of the unit upside down and switch the drain and plug from top to bottom. The name plaque can be removed and installed right side up. Quite simple design. |
Question: | The top of the filter housing on mine only connects on the two front tabs. The back of the housing just sits on top of filter. Is this correct |
Answer: | I don't mean to say the same thing over again, Patrick said the same thing I'm going to say, but a new pad is all you will need in this unit. I'm also a hvac technican and April air 600ms are our humidifier of choice. I've seen some people who have such bad water the pad gets clogged mid winter, and I've also seen people who have bad water and have been using the same pad for years. rule of thumb to get the most out of your unit is to change the pad every year. You could get away with longer but why would you when you can get replacement pads for cheap at home depot. To install you will need 2 6" 90's, 6" flex duct, 1" zip screws, 2 wire, 3/4 inch pvc with fittings and glue, small piece of 1/2" vinyl tubing (optional), and a pair of tin snips. I would suggest hiring a professional unless you're an avid do it yourself type of person, but it's defiantly something a average homeowner COULD do with enough time and YouTube videos. As far as the solenoid, it almost never goes bad, like Patrick said they usually last around 10 years. I've seen some go bad in as little as 2 but those are 1 in 100 and factory defected. I hope this helps someone down the line. |

Product description
Aprilaire introduced the first evaporative humidifier for forced air furnace systems back in 1954. Since that time, Aprilaire continues to lead the industry in whole home humidification systems. Our evaporative humidifiers work by piping water into the distribution tray located at the top of the humidifier. The water is uniformly distributed across the width of the tray and through a scientifically designed system of outlets. It flows by gravity over the Water Panel evaporator. Dry, hot air from the HVAC system is moved through the moisture-laden Water Panel evaporator. Natural evaporation takes place, the water is turned to vapor, and the humidified air is circulated throughout your home. INCLUDED IN THE BOX: Installation instructions and template, humidifier with built-in bypass damper, 24 VAC transformer, automatic digital humidifier control with sensor, outdoor temperature sensor, saddle valve, solenoid valve, and Model # 10 Water Panel

Cleaning the rest of the appliance is just as simple: the power unit lifts off the top of the humidifier for easy cleaning and servicing, while the evaporative wick, which filters out mineral deposits, also lifts out for replacing. Controls are hidden behind a panel on the top of the unit. Select a preferred humidity from the humidistat dial and this model will automatically turn itself on and off to maintain the chosen humidity level. In addition, the humidifier’s fan offers four settings. This humidifier measures 24 by 13-1/2 by 22 inches, with casters on the bottom for easy rolling from room to room. Bemis covers this unit under a two-year limited warranty. --Cristina Vaamonde. The Sweet Spot
If some sour notes are coming from your piano or guitar, you might be missing something other than musical talent. Some instruments require humidity to retain their proper shape, strength and sound. Utilizing an AIRCARE humidifier and hygrometer, you can maintain the 40 to 60% humidity level recommended to keep the music playing.
Save Energy and Money
Dry air sheds heat easily driving up your heating bill. Releasing moisture into the air via an AIRCARE humidifier can help. By adding water molecules to the air, you help increase your home’s heat retention while allowing you to reduce the temp on your thermostat. Some Department of Energy studies show you can save around 3% on your energy bill for every 1-2 degrees you reduce your thermostat.*

For the Love of Dog
Hate suffering from dry skin? So do our four-legged friends. Dry indoor air can cause pet skin to become itchy and flakey, and while scratching may relieve their discomfort, it increases ours by sending hair and dander flying into the air. Show them some love by adding healthy, clean water vapor into the air with an AIRCARE humidifier while trapping airborne dust and dander in our humidifier wicks and filters.
Product description
Aprilaire introduced the first evaporative humidifier for forced air furnace systems back in 1954. Since that time, Aprilaire continues to lead the industry in whole home humidification systems – including steam humidifiers. Aprilaire steam humidifiers use electrode technology and are simple to install, operate, and maintain. With electrode technology, electrical current flows between submerged electrodes, resistance of the water to the electric current heats the water. The submerged electrodes are found in a replaceable canister. At the end of a humidifier season, the canister – including the electrodes, is replaced. No cleaning, no scrubbing, simply replace the canister and you’re ready for the next humidifier season. Electrode technology requires impurities in the water to promote the transfer of electricity. For this reason, water filtration is not required with electrode technology, minimizing the complexity of the installation and on-going operating costs. This unit will operate with water hardness between 3 and 36 grains – a very wide range. If reverse osmosis or deionized water is present, plumb the steam humidifier to a water line before the water flows through the reverse osmosis or deionization equipment.
INCLUDED IN THE BOX: Installation instructions, steam humidifier, Model 62 automatic digital humidifier control with sensor, outdoor temperature sensor, dispersion tube, steam hose (6 feet), 7/8 inch drain tubing (10 feet), hose clamps, saddle valve, mounting screws, Model 80 steam canister

Product description
Evaporative humidifiers are a great solution for adding much needed humidity to dry air in the home. By raising indoor relative humidity levels to 43% or above, 86% of airborne virus particles are rendered powerless. Maintaining proper humidity levels also helps treat flu and allergy symptoms by soothing dryness, itchiness, and irritation in the nose, nasal passages, sinuses, mouth, throat, and eyes. Many people think pet hair is the cause of allergies, but in reality, the cause of allergens from pets is actually from their dander. Adding moisture to the air reduces pet dander and other airborne allergens. Evaporative Humidification not only produces comfortable/healthy air, it is also an extremely effective way to save money on energy cost. Adding humidity to the air allows you to remain comfortable at lower thermostat settings. "The rule of thumb is that you can save about 3% on your heating bill for every degree that you set back your thermostat," says Bill Prindle, deputy director for the non-profit American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy. This means evaporative humidification could save you up to 20% on your energy bill. User questions & answers
Question: | What are the dimentions of this unit |
Answer: | 17.5 x 12.5 x 22.5 inches |
Question: | what filter does it take |
Answer: | Essick Air AIRCARE 1043 Replacement Space Saver Wick. Amazon sells a 3 pack. That is what I ordered. One filter usually lasts me all winter. |
Question: | Is it directional at all? Does it point the air? We do want to point the air |
Answer: | No. It blows the air straight up. All you can do is point the front of the unit in the direction you want but get little more than straight up. On 2nd and 3rd speed unit is very noisy so I only use the low speed. Also the float rod that shuts the unit off when it needs filling is unusable because of the cheap design. I corrected this by putting Gorilla Tape on the float switch to get the unit to run, but now I have to monitor the water level manually. I do not recommend buying this unit but the price is right for a cheap unit.Tim, Essex, MD |
Question: | How big is the water reservoir in gallons, ounces, not time |
Answer: | I just got this unit in the 2700 square foot size and I do not care what anyone else says, I just put 6 1 gallon containers of R/O water into this unit without any overflow. In fact, not even close. It holds 6 gallons. Period. |

User questions & answers
Question: | Does it come with the wick or do I need to buy it separately and what is the type and number of the wick needed |
Answer: | Hi, RJ. Thank you for your question. This humidifier includes the wick. It takes one AIRCARE 1041 Super Wick, once it needs to be replaced. I hope this helps. - Sydney, Essick Air Products |
Question: | What is the function of the wick and what does it look like |
Answer: | Valued Customer, This type of humidifier is an evaporative humidifier. The humidity produced in the air is generated by the wick. Once you fill your humidifier with water, the wick will then begin to soak up the water and the fan will push the moisture from that wick into your air. Generally evaporative humidifiers are better at covering an entire home than say an ultrasonic humidifier which is good at covering smaller spaces. If you have any other questions or would like some additional information about our products, please contact our office at [email protected]. - Thank You |
Question: | Does it have a humistat , and what's the humidity level controls |
Answer: | yes and different fan sppeds auto once humidity is set and holds it well little noisy on high speeds |
Question: | Do you make replacement bottles and if so where do we purchase it |
Answer: | I don't, but EssickAir does. They're $16.99, caps included, and you can order them here: https://www.essickair.com/humidifiers/parts-accessories/water-bottles.html If you're just having trouble getting the caps to tighten, there's a fix for that.
