Question:	How long does it take to get the results back
Answer:	I purchased the kit on Black Friday 2019 sale. It took 16 days from mailing to receive all test results. I was expecting longer than the estimated 3-4 weeks due to the presumably increased sales during the holidays. Here is my timeline: Mailed the sample on 12/5. Delivered to Embark 12/10. Sample sent to lab on 12/17. Received health results on 12/20. Received breed, traits, and relatives on 12/21.
Question:	Has anyone compared results to wisdom panel? i am having a tough time trusting our wp results since they seem way off
Answer:	Yes I have! We have 2 rescue dogs, and We 100% definitively know the ancestry of one of our rescues but not the other. Our older rescue, Lily, is a Doberman-Lab (maternal doberman, paternal lab-retriever). Our other rescue is a mixed bag of cuteness--all we know for sure if she has some husky and some border collie. That being said, I wanted to compare Wisdom Panel and Embark, and since we knew what one of our furbabies is a doberman-lab, we thought she would be a great control for this experiment! I ordered Wisdom panel first (bc of its great reviews and more appealing price) and I was completely appalled and disappointed at the results for our doberman-lab. Her results came back as Alaskan Malamute + Poodle. I actually called to see if they mixed up her results with someone else's but customer service told me that it was impossible to do so lol! I loved Embark's results, and they actually tested her pretty accurately--It came back as Doberman-Lab Retreiver-Rottie (Rottie being minimal). I love the health results, they are so much more detailed compared to Wisdom Panel results and its worth the extra cost. As for our other mixed rescue dog, Wisdom Panel came back with a mix of 8 breeds and 20% 'undefined'. I was pretty disappointed with that and our results for her Embark test are pending.I did post to the Embark facebook group, as other ppl have, and many people have done a similar experiment between the 2 companies. It seems to be overwhelmingly pro-Embark, but I can understand that the price may be a turnoff. In my opinion, the price is worth it for embark, especially if you have health concerns.

Question:	Does it test for SOD1 in degenerative myelopathy
Answer:	I went over my dog’s report and reviewed the many genetic factors that are tested. DM is listed as being tested for but there is no mention of SOD1 in the description. If it is found present there would almost surely be a more detailed explanation of the results.

Question:	Why does this brand lump british & irish together? (i noticed ancestry dna lists them separately). the genes are significantly different. thanks
Answer:	It will if you have a significant difference, if that is the case, it will drill down to say Irish. For instance, my husband (who is from Ireland) was 99% British and Irish, and then drilled down to 99% Irish. I was 88% from Spain and Portugal (I'm from Portugal) and then drilled down to 88% Portugal. I never mentioned to them I was from Portugal so the fact that they determined that I was Portuguese and not Spanish or a mixture was a surprise. Now, if you only have a small percentage they may not be able to distinguish between the two groups. Hope this helped!

Answer:	There is access to your raw data, however if you recently took the test and have results under the V5 chip, you will not be able to upload to many third party sites at this time as this raw data is not yet supportrd

Answer:	Not only will it not provide tribal affiliation, there is a notable rate of false negatives for Native American ancestry in DNA testing right now (both 23andme and other companies). Meaning these results might say you have zero Native ancestry even when you do have some. People who have their family tree well documented and live on reservations have had this happen, due to the comparison samples the companies use to test against.

I don't think this answer will help you now since it has been about 11 weeks since your original question and I'm not sure if the saliva DNA is still good after that long, But hopefully this may help someone else who has the same question about their deceased dog. On the DNAmydog.com website they now have a DNA test for deceased dogs for $157. They need anything that the dog chewed on or had oral contact with. chew toys, (unwashed) blankets they chewed on, toothbrush, etc.. Here's the link : http://dnamydog.com/dna-deceased-dogs.php You may want to call them (416-691-4160) just to be sure you can't still send them something and get some results.
Question:	How quickly do you get the results
Answer:	I submitted the sample on 4.29 and received the results 5.19. My puppy was a rescue, and on our first visit to the vet she guessed he was 8 weeks old and an Akita /Australian Shepherd mix. The Mars test confirmed that he was a first generation cross of those two breeds, so kudos to my vet! (Boo to the sociopath that left my perfect and gorgeous puppy in a dumpster.)

Question:	I tried wisdom panel when my dog was a puppy but some things came back inconclusive. Would it be beneficial to try it again now that she is an adult
Answer:	Great question! By inconclusive I can assume you mean that there were portions of the ancestry that were mixed beyond the third generation so you had some portion of "Mixed Breed"; we are able to detect purebred ancestry present in the most recent 3 generations (to the great grandparent level) and many dogs will have some percentage of their ancestry that is mixed beyond those 3. That said, the technology has improved tremendously in the last 4 years and our database of purebred dogs is considerably larger than it once was; so if your dog's test was performed more than 4 years ago there is a possibility that the updated technology may be able to uncover a bit more. Question:	Will this test prove a purebred
Answer:	No. This test is designed for Mixed Breed. Wisdom has a separate test kit that is specifically designed for Purebred. I did some research and several studies found that submitting the same DNA with different Wisdom tests comes back with slightly varying results. Purebred DNA with this test will come back with mixed breed results. i.e. 95% German Sheppard, 5% Poodle, even though your pedigree proves it's a purebred German Sheppard. If you really think you have a purebred, use the Wisdom purebred test. Don't take my word for it, do the research.
Question:	Does anyone know if the results from this kit will help me get past restricted breed nazis and move to a different apartment? My Mutt looks like a Rotty
Answer:	I was able to use a combination of a DNA test and photo of my dog to get past rental restrictions. The DNA test showed 30% Pit Bull (2 breeds - Staffordshire and Bulldog) and 30% Cocker Spaniel with some Golden Retriever and Papillon making up the rest. Might not work for everyone and my dog doesn't look like a pit unless you look close (face/forehead only...body is very not-pit bull). But in my case it helped. Sometimes even just indicating that you have a DNA test showing your dog is not a restricted breed or small percentage is enough to get you past the obstacle.
Question:	I received my Wisdom Panel 2.0 and it appeared brand new, however when I opened it,one of the three lot code labels is missing. Is this standard
Answer:	I couldn't answer if that's standard...I would think it's up to the Co to determine if that's a sign of being tampered with. U certainly don't need a 3rd sticker as long as you have the code, which the Co includes when they email that they've received your sample, too! Good luck:-)I was not thrilled with my mixed breed result (as I suspected would happen). I immediately rejected 1 of the breed results, but I learned a lot from 1 of the dominant breed answers & after speaking to a rep, was able to better understand the results & could sort of see how the breed I rejected could come into play with my true mutt! Overall, I was very glad I did it & very happy with the Co's follow up, explanations & information - as an extra FYI, lol!
Question:	How many breeds are in your database? My dog is from Japan so I was wondering if you had those breeds in your system
Answer:	I did this with our “oki mutt” from Japan 6 years ago and the results were accurate. Be prepared to see shiba inu in the mix since almost all of them have some part of the Japanese dog range (from Akita to small Shibas)

Answer:	They have a long list. You can try the website to see if they tell you the breeds they can detect.
Question:	During the covid-19 pandemic how long will it take to get my results back
Answer:	Wisdom Panel is experiencing no delays in sample processing due to Covid-19. Once the sample is checked in at the lab you can expect results in roughly 2-3 weeks.
Question:	How many test strips come in the package
Answer:	There are two and they are not really test strips. They are like a little brush type swab and both have to be used on the same dog. Using both strips helps to get enough cells to get a DNA. Not crazy over Wisdom Panel. This is the first time we tried Wisdom Panel. We usually use Embark.
Question:	What are the differences for all wisdom productes
Answer:	3.0 can detect purebred ancestors present in the first 3 generations and will give your dog’s MDR1 status (Multi-Drug Sensitivity); the Wisdom Panel Health test will do both of those things as well as providing results for 150+ disease causing mutations and a genetic trait analysis. Question:	How long do you let the swabs "dry" before putting them in the sleeve to mail
Answer:	I used the little places in the sleeve to let them dry and I let them dry about an hour. The put them into the sleeve, unsealed and sent the whole thing back. I got got good results on all specimens
Question:	Can you do this DNA test on a puppy or is it better to wait until the dog is full grown
Answer:	Actually you should wait at least until the puppy is no longer nursing on the mom. That Can skew the results.
Question:	Will it provide results for mixed beeeds
Answer:	One of my puppies results came back with 12.5% “breed groups”. If you want those specific breeds, they charge an additional $89. Says results in a couple days, I got them in a few seconds. So they obviously already had that info ready. Deceptive advertising to play with the results that way...
Question:	Will the test identify chubacabra dna
Answer:	Yes! The test results showed that my dog had 20% chupacabra DNA but it could be that my dog ate a chupacabra. I’m not 110% sure

Question:	Do the results give countries or just continents? I would like one that gives specific countries
Answer:	Just a general response to all the older responses to questions. All of the DNA companies are constantly changing their DNA results. The more people that have the test, that more data goes into improving the accuracy and/or improves the ability to be more specific. Therefore, just wanted to say, as time goes on, the older responses may no longer be valid.
Question:	Do you get both maternal and paternal lines with this test
Answer:	Not distinct, separate lines, no. But you do get those results, just mixed up. AncestryDNA tests only autosomal chromosomes; that is, non-sex chromosomes. These are the 22 chromosomes everyone has regardless of gender. That means your results will show both your parents' ancestry, even if you're female, but it'll be combined - you won't be able to tell which parent provided which country or DNA result. For maternal- and paternal-specific ancestry (mtDNA and YDNA, respectively), 23andme provides this testing. AncestryDNA stopped doing it in 2014 (see https://blogs.ancestry.com/ancestry/2014/06/12/comments-on-y-dna-and-mtdna-tests/). I recommend doing both AncestryDNA and 23andme for a more comprehensive picture of your background. And if you're female, ask a male relative (father, brother, paternal uncle) to do 23andme so you can extrapolate your paternal YDNA and haplogroup, since females do not carry the Y sex chromosome. Again, this is not available via AncestryDNA.If you are only interested in overall, general, "big-picture" results, and aren't concerned with specifics like which part of the world your maternal/paternal line came from per se, or your haplogroups, then AncestryDNA is the way to go.
Question:	Are these results on a par with 23andme? Are they identical or is there more info or less
Answer:	Depends on what you’re using it for. I took Ancestry and my sister to 23andme. We were looking to confirm our relatives not our ethnicity. We had way more matches and have been able to find common ancestors with other DNA matches. 23 and me is harder to sort through the matches and I’m not sure If you can even see other people’s family trees as i haven’t figured it out in almost a year
Question:	How many past generations does this test go back? Will it test going back a few hundred years
Answer:	That depends on your ancestry and the number of people of similar ancestry who have tested. Biggest group is European heritage. I have 6th and 7th generation matches going back to colonial New England because there was a good degree of pedigree collapse (genetic reinforcement due to small populations intermarrying) The majority of matches will be in the 4th cousin range. However, matches are pointless unless you have a decent family tree (at least 4 generations) and respond to messages because you will not be able to make the connections otherwise.
