Answer:	I purchased the kit on Black Friday 2019 sale. It took 16 days from mailing to receive all test results. I was expecting longer than the estimated 3-4 weeks due to the presumably increased sales during the holidays. Here is my timeline: Mailed the sample on 12/5. Delivered to Embark 12/10. Sample sent to lab on 12/17. Received health results on 12/20. Received breed, traits, and relatives on 12/21.
Question:	Has anyone compared results to wisdom panel? i am having a tough time trusting our wp results since they seem way off
Answer:	Yes I have! We have 2 rescue dogs, and We 100% definitively know the ancestry of one of our rescues but not the other. Our older rescue, Lily, is a Doberman-Lab (maternal doberman, paternal lab-retriever). Our other rescue is a mixed bag of cuteness--all we know for sure if she has some husky and some border collie. That being said, I wanted to compare Wisdom Panel and Embark, and since we knew what one of our furbabies is a doberman-lab, we thought she would be a great control for this experiment! I ordered Wisdom panel first (bc of its great reviews and more appealing price) and I was completely appalled and disappointed at the results for our doberman-lab. Her results came back as Alaskan Malamute + Poodle. I actually called to see if they mixed up her results with someone else's but customer service told me that it was impossible to do so lol! I loved Embark's results, and they actually tested her pretty accurately--It came back as Doberman-Lab Retreiver-Rottie (Rottie being minimal). I love the health results, they are so much more detailed compared to Wisdom Panel results and its worth the extra cost. As for our other mixed rescue dog, Wisdom Panel came back with a mix of 8 breeds and 20% 'undefined'. I was pretty disappointed with that and our results for her Embark test are pending.I did post to the Embark facebook group, as other ppl have, and many people have done a similar experiment between the 2 companies. It seems to be overwhelmingly pro-Embark, but I can understand that the price may be a turnoff. In my opinion, the price is worth it for embark, especially if you have health concerns.

Answer:	For a paternity test, there needs to be at least one child and one possible father. The mother can also participate to help strengthen results, but her DNA is not usually required.
Question:	Do you just need the child and fathers dna? Not the mothers
Answer:	Yes. Although the mother's DNA can help strengthen results under certain circumstances, it is usually not required. Should it turn out to be needed, the lab will suspend testing and ask for the mother's samples. We'll then include her in the test at no extra charge.

Answer:	I would suggest for the child to order the test kit, once DNA is collected, mail everything inclusive of the DNA collected to the alleged father (postage fee and envelope at child’s own expense), then the alleged father collects his DNA and drop everything at UPS drop box.
Question:	What if the alleged father lives out-of-state from where I live
Answer:	When you do an at-home like Alpha Heelix at-home test, the results are not court-admissible; this is because the court cannot verify that all participants were who they said they were at the time of testing. For results to be court-admissible, participants’ IDs are checked and sample collection and mailing are supervised by a third-party witness.
Question:	Can this be used in court
Answer:	No, sorry. The New York State Department of Health only allows paternity collection for DNA testing to be performed by an approved DNA collector. This means that at-home collection where participants are responsible for self-swabbing their own cheeks is not an option.

The DNA Cousin Test is used in situations where the alleged parent(s) are not available for testing. If the alleged parent(s) in question is/are available for testing, we highly recommend the DNA Paternity Test or DNA Maternity Test over the DNA Cousin Test. If the parents of the alleged cousins are available, the DNA Sibling Test would be recommended over the DNA Cousin Test since the sibling test (although not as powerful as a parentage test) is more powerful than a cousin test. Answer:	I went over my dog’s report and reviewed the many genetic factors that are tested. DM is listed as being tested for but there is no mention of SOD1 in the description. If it is found present there would almost surely be a more detailed explanation of the results.

Answer:	I don't think dog hair can be used as they gather the saliva from inside the check, which my dog thought was a fun game

Answer:	Hi, You are using too much water. Wring the sponge well, flap or pat dry the paper after wetting. If paint continues to get too thin, leave lid off to allow evaporation. Add a touch of household ammonia to the water before soaking sponge and paper. This keeps everything fresh and helps reduce skimming while open. When dry enough, mist lightly to maintain proper moisture and prevent skim.
Question:	Does the finger prick hurt? And is it difficult to do yourself
Answer:	Yes. It comes with the spongy layer and some paper. The paper is actually washable, so I just rinse it off and reuse it. I've even scrubbed it lightly with a sponge. It's a different kind of paper. Some stains remain but they don't hurt anything. I use one side then turn it over and use the other side. I've used one sheet of paper for awhile now.

Answer:	Avoid using chemicals in your wet palette that threaten to affect the characteristics of the paint like dish soap, peroxide, alcohol, and vinegar. FOR EXAMPLE: dish soap reduced surface tension of water and will change how the paint flows; vinegar is an acid and could change the pH of the acrylic - destroying its pigment binding chemistry and potentially causing the paint to reactivate when it gets wet; alcohols (including Listerine with alcohol) significantly speeds up the paint drying time (exactly what you don't want in a wet palette); and hydrogen peroxide will cause pigment clumping - causing interesting but uncontrollable effects on saturation and contrast. Three one-cent pennies under the sponge will effectively inhibit mold, mildew, bacteria because copper ions are anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. The thin copper plating on the newer zinc (post 1982) pennies are enough to prevent microbial growth. Do use distilled water.

Answer:	We have only used it with acrylic paints, but it says in the description that it is compatible with oils.
