10 best contact lens solution for dry eyes

Contact lens solution for dry eyes is a specialized product designed to provide relief and comfort for individuals who wear contact lenses but experience dryness or discomfort due to their lenses. These solutions are formulated to address the unique needs of contact lens wearers and to help maintain good eye health. Here are some key points about contact lens solution for dry eyes:

  1. Moisturizing Properties: Contact lens solution for dry eyes typically contains lubricating agents to help keep the eyes and contact lenses moist throughout the day. These agents may include hyaluronic acid, glycerin, or other ingredients that mimic the natural tear film of the eye.

  2. Reduces Friction: Dry eyes can lead to increased friction between the contact lens and the eye's surface, which can cause discomfort and irritation. The solution helps reduce this friction, making lens wear more comfortable.

  3. Rehydrates Lenses: Prolonged lens wear can sometimes lead to a loss of moisture in the contact lenses themselves. These solutions are designed to rehydrate the lenses, keeping them comfortable on the eye.

  4. Compatibility with Contact Lenses: It's crucial to choose a contact lens solution that is compatible with the type of lenses you wear. Some solutions are formulated for soft contact lenses, while others are suitable for rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses. Always follow the recommendations of your eye care professional.

  5. Preservative-Free Options: Some individuals may have sensitive eyes and prefer preservative-free contact lens solutions. These options are available to reduce the risk of irritation or allergic reactions.

  6. Daily vs. Multipurpose Solutions: Contact lens solutions come in various types. Some are designed for daily cleaning and rinsing, while others serve as multipurpose solutions for cleaning, disinfecting, and storing lenses. Make sure to use the solution as directed on the packaging.

  7. Consultation with an Eye Care Professional: If you experience persistent dryness, discomfort, or irritation while wearing contact lenses, it's essential to consult with an eye care professional. They can assess your eye health and recommend specific solutions or treatments tailored to your needs.

  8. Overall Eye Health: While contact lens solution for dry eyes can provide relief, it's essential to prioritize overall eye health. This includes regular eye exams, proper lens care, and adherence to your eye care professional's recommendations.

In summary, contact lens solution for dry eyes is a specialized product designed to alleviate discomfort and maintain eye health for individuals who wear contact lenses. Choosing the right solution and following proper lens care practices are crucial for a comfortable and enjoyable contact lens-wearing experience. If you experience persistent dryness or discomfort, consult with an eye care professional for guidance.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the deal with not being able to take the cap off? Is B&L etal. afraid you might use the solution in another container as re-wetting drops
Answer: You should NEVER transfer lens solution from the original container to another. It's very easy to contaminate the product and the result can be as simple as an eye infection to as serious as loss of vision. Those little "travel" cases (from China) that include a purse size container should not be sold. Besides the solution is not meant for re-wetting.
Question: Can you use bio true for insertion of lenes
Answer: I don't understand how this can be a "cleaner" and yet can be used to insert lenses like saline? Can you use to insert lenses? Isn't it harsh?
Question: How often do you have to switch out the solution in your contact case
Answer: You should replace the solution only after wearing your lenses. If you are not wearing them than they can remain in the same solution. Fresh solution is a good way to clean and disinfect your lenses.
Question: Does this come with a contact lens case
Answer: Yes it comes with one. It's very nice I use it every day.

Question: What is the Expiration Date
Answer: I purchased in July 2013 and the expiration date was March 2015.
Question: does this come with a case
Answer: I see no one else got a case. Mine did come with a case. Just got it today.
Question: how long will this twin pack last if used daily
Answer: I'm sorry but if 20 oz last one year, you surely don't take care of your eyes. 20 oz last about 2 months on average. Proper cleaning techniques apply when you have to wear contact daily.

User questions & answers

Question: How does the Replenish compare to the Pure-Moist line? Which one is better for keeping eyes from getting dry
Answer: I'm not sure I tend to leave mine in the solution for days and get the same results as if I left them only overnight, but I know since using this solution they last longer for me and don't get uncomfortable as quick as they use to from build up and etc.
Question: Is this replenish or express? One picture says express
Answer: I contacted the manufacturer asking about this, you don't need to buy a replacement filter for the 12 oz double pack. Here's their response.: "Thank you for contacting Alcon. This email is in response to your inquiry below. When used as directed, the lens case (cup and disc) packaged with two bottles (twin pack) of CLEAR CARE® Cleaning & Disinfecting Solution is designed to be used with both bottles. Another new lens case should not be needed. The twin packs that contain more than 32 fl. oz. in the bottles of CLEAR CARE Solution are supplied with two (2) fresh new lens cases. • Discard any remaining solution 3 months after opening. • The Discard date refers to the time you can safely use contact lens care product after the bottle has been opened. It is not the same as the expiration date, which is the last date that the product is still effective before it is opened. WARNING: Using your solution beyond the discard date could result in contamination of the solution and can lead to severe infection, vision loss or blindness. • To avoid contamination, DO NOT touch tip of container to any surface. Replace cap after using. • To avoid contaminating your solution, DO NOT transfer to other bottles or containers. Should you have any follow up questions or require further assistance, please contact Medical Product Information using the contact information listed below. Thank you for your interest in Alcon products."
Question: the product images and the title seem to conflict with each other. how many 10oz bottles does this product consist of
Answer: Ideally, you should let it soak for 8 hours. If you only let them soak for 3 or 4 hours for a day it is fine as long as you soak 8 hours the next day. Even if you don't soak as long, it's very important to spend 10 seconds per contact. You should pour a little solution in the palm of your hand, put your contact in that, and then rub with your finger to clean them. Basically you're trying to clean deposits off of them like proteins and oils. It's kind of like if you take anxiety dish with mold on it and dip it in soapy water and then rinse, it won't be clean. You have to run it and get all the stuff off. Hope this helps!
Question: Agree, product image and title conflict. Is this a 2 pack as indicates? Thanks
Answer: Yes

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I bring my Opti-Free contact lens solution on an airplane?

A: While a standard bottle of Opti-Free solution may be permitted in your carry-on luggage by the TSA, we suggest packing a 2 oz. travel size. Visit the TSA website for more information.

Q: Why can’t I use saline solution to clean my lenses?

A: Saline solution is only meant to rinse your lenses, not clean and disinfect them. Opti-Free contact lens solutions do it all – rinse, clean, disinfect and store your lenses.

Q: Can I use my multi-purpose solution as a rewetting drop?

A: Opti-Free multi-purpose solutions are formulated for cleaning, disinfecting, and rinsing your lenses immediately before putting them in your eyes. To rewet your contact lenses once they’re on your eyes, we recommend using an Opti-Free Rewetting Drop for an additional burst of moisture.

User questions & answers

Question: What is the difference between this and the HP
Answer: I currently use only the individual vials with no preservatives. I’m not familiar with HP
Question: Whats the difference between maximum hydration and xp, when do you use them
Answer: I don't know that I've tried the xp variety. I have tried 2 or 3 others though. And this one (Maximum Hydration) just seems to make my eyes feel better immediately. The formulas are definitely a bit different.
Question: Do the vials have a way to cap them for another use in case you don't use all of the liquid at once
Answer: If you're talking about the daily drops that come in the one-dose vials, no they cannot be closed and re-used. And shouldn't be re-used if left open somehow. Too easy for the liquid to become contaminated and no way should you put that in your eyes. They're inexpensive enough to use what you need from one vial and toss the rest.
Question: Please, tell me the difference between this and the XP? Don’t bother to answer questions when you don’t know the answer
Answer: XP SOOTHE has glycerin in it . It’s a milky liquid probably meant for nighttime use , it made my vision blurry. Regular SOOTHE is good for daytime use.

Product description

Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops are a safe and effective solution that provides moisture and comfort for all day use. This solution can be used on silicone hydrogel and soft (hydrophilic) lenses while still in the eye. These drops are used for preventing protein deposits and buildups that come with constant use of contact lenses. The Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops formula is considered thimerosal-free and sorbic acid-free. The proper use of these rewetting drops is to moisten, reduce discomfort, and help remove particular material that may result in eye irritation or discomfort. Using this formula to lubricate the contact lenses multiple times during the day may also allow for extended use. The rewetting drops can be applied directly to the eye for immediate moisture and relief, where the multi-purpose solutions are to be used strictly to soak the lens by itself. The rewetting drops come in a portable packaging size for ease of use throughout the day. The correct application includes placing two drops directly into each eye and blinking 2-3 times to spread moisture throughout the eye. In order to avoid protein buildup on contact lenses follow these steps four times per day. Opti-Free strives to continue providing patients with the newest and most effective contact lens products on the market for dry and irritated eyes.

  • Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops give you a refreshing burst of moisture for added comfort when wearing contact lenses
  • Removes particles that cause irritation
  • Helps prevent deposit build-up
  • For Use with all Silicone Hydrogel and other Soft Contact Lenses

User questions & answers

Question: where is this manufactured
Answer: We have added a picture of the RGP case which comes with each bottle.
Question: Is there a difference between the Replenish rewetting drops and these PureMoist rewetting drops
Answer: Per my eye Dr the manufacturer wasn't producing enough. He said most eye Drs recommend this one so they got behind. Now it's available again but definitely more expensive. But I like it better than any other kind I tried for soaking and cleaning.
Question: From their website: "Can be used on silicone hydrogels and all types of soft contact lenses
Answer: Hi Barbara Thanks for your reply. Do you happen to know whether I can drop one drop of the Alcon Opti Free Supra Clens Daily Protein Remover into the unique PH solution to remove protein? Previously, I have used the Alcon Opti Free Supra Clens Daily Protein Remover with Opti Free GP Solution.
Question: Do this disinfectant
Answer: No. The Unique PH is a soaking and cleaning solution. You fill the scleral lens with sterile saline solution before inserting it in your eye. I use addipak 5ml saline solution, purchased by the box of 100. Any sterile saline solution is fine for filling the lens before inserting them in your eye.

Most times, your lenses feel dry because they lack moisture. Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops are an effective and convenient way of adding that moisture back to your lenses.

Perfect for On-the-Go

When your lenses feel dry, you can’t always find the time to remove them from your eyes and give them a good, moisturizing clean. That’s why Opti-Free Puremoist Rewetting Drops are so convenient. You can use them to remove particles and add moisture to your lenses while your lenses are on your eyes.

Lenses

It might be hard to believe, but sometimes it’s your own contact lenses that make your eyes feel dry. That’s because some soft contact lenses can absorb water away from the surface of the eye, resulting in irritation. Using Opti-Free Rewetting Drops gives you a way to add extra moisture throughout the day, so you experience less discomfort.

High Temperatures

Sometimes, high temperatures combined with high humidity can cause your lenses to feel irritating on your eyes. Opti-Free Rewetting Drops can fight this by helping rewet and lubricate your lenses, even on the hottest, most humid days of the year.

Wind

If your eyes are exposed to excessive amounts of wind – or even if you’re on a boat or in a convertible that’s moving fast – your eyes can get dry. Wind can also expose your eyes to particles in the air. Using Opti-Free Rewetting Drops can help lenses reduce deposit build-up and irritation.
