In my experience, two other brands I used had either a nutty or no aroma to the flax seed. My perception of Premium Gold brand's aroma is it being of a "fruity" one. I do not see it as being "funny". All I can say is that I'm on my second bag of Premium Gold and I will not buy any other brand. The other two brands were good, I'm sure, but the value was not there. Answer:	I ground mine in a coffee grinder first. That makes a fine powder that blends better in the smoothie. Ground only what you plan to use in the smoothie.

Answer:	Yes, eventually. Flax seed, like most seeds, has oil in the seed which eventually will go rancid. The packaging has a “best by” date on it but you can appreciably extend the shelf life of all seeds and nuts through refrigeration, if available. Most of our products are free from peanuts, tree nuts (with the exception of coconut), soy, dairy, wheat, eggs, fish, and shell fish. Our Ghee products do have milk. The coconut oil is packed in a facility free from the above. The ‘seeds’ products we produce are packed in a facility that does have some of these allergens but our product line is packed in a clean room on dedicated machinery. There is virtually no chance of cross contamination however, I do like to let people know the 70,000 square foot facility is not allergen free, just the room and machinery where our product is packaged. While the facility may handle other nuts they do not run on shared equipment with our products. Additionally, the plant operates to GFSI (Global Food Safety Initiative) standards which includes a fully audited Allergen Control Policy. Answer:	The flax seed is a combination of dark brown, and lighter brown. And it has a sheen to it. I LOVE this brand. I used to use Trader Joe's, and one day I picked this one up. WOW, what a difference in taste. I researched this brand and found out that it was not only organic, but also cold pressed.........which makes all the difference. I love it, and use it every day. I had a practitioner tell me several years ago that if you take a TBS a day you can't get many of the cancers. Truth or not, I love taking it daily.
