Answer: Really depends on what your expectations are. It hits very hard and loud and plays slightly below 20hz. However if you’re expecting a home theater with room shaking bass it may be a little under powered. That said it’s is an excellent sub and it constantly blows me away how good it sounds with both music and movies. You may want to check out the PB 2000 or consider using 2 of the PB-1000 Btw The PB-2000 won a bunch of awards this year for product of the year.

Answer: A high quality, properly tuned, ported subwoofer (like this one); 1) will last longer because of the pressure on a sealed box's speaker's suspension foam and electrical resistance on its drive amplifier. 2) is bigger than its sealed counterpart. A Sealed Box Subwoofer takes up less space. 3) is louder, especially during notes that require higher amplifier current. A Sealed Box Subwoofer has less punch. 4) are generally a bit more expensive than similar SB Subs. To me, a Sealed Box Subwoofer is a compromise. My SVS PB Sub puts out brilliant tight impressive sounding bass. My neighborhood has half acre lots, and at mid volume levels, my neighbor across the street complains about his windows rattling.

Question: Has anyone listened to both the sb-1000 and the sb
Answer: I have both right now, and the SB1000 is going back. The subwoofer itself is pretty good, but I had issues with not being able to get a strong enough signal from the preamp; I had the subwoofer turned all of the way up and it just wasn't loud enough (and I'm not a bass hog). I ended up buying a line level amplifier (MCM Custom Audio) for under $30 bucks and that allows me to get a whole more out of the subwoofer. I personally think that if you can swing the extra $200 for the SB-2000 do that, because it looks nicer, has higher quality parts and avoids the level problem I mentioned, otherwise the SB-1000 will do just fine for a small area/system. Don't worry too much about the SB-1000 not being able to go as low frequency-wise as the 2000, because there's nothing in music you really want to hear at 20 Hz.
Question: Is is possible to pair this with a nad c316bee integrated amp
Answer: Thanks for your question. The c316bee has no subwoofer output however, the SB-1000 has provisions to connect to left and right speaker outputs on the NAD. Answer: I have not hard the PB, bit own the SB-1000 and have been critically listening to it for the last 4 days. i have been comparing to two klipsch ported subs of higher price tag and i can tell you this SB1000 is in a whole different category. I've been listening to the subs in my room, a 11 by 14, and in my uncle's music room, a 8 by 14, and I can tell you it can make everything shake. You room is bigger, so if you want and overpowering bass you might prefer the PB, or as someone said consider the SB-2000. BECAUSE OF MY EXPERIENCE WITH music with this sub, if when I need to upgrade, I'm sure it will be to the SB2000 or perhaps the ultra. It is unbelievable the amount of detail recorded in the low frequencies...and they are being revealed with the SB1000. I am not an expert but based on physics I think the speed of the sb is hard to obtain in a ported design.

Answer: My living room is a similar size with a similar semi-open design. I hooked mine up yesterday. It gets louder than my neighbors will likely tolerate. I suppose it’s all subjective as to whether or not it’s big enough. Like asking if a car is fast enough. Depends on what you consider loud (or fast). IMO this subwoofer provides ample bass for my larger/open room. Would a larger sub or additional subs provide more bass? Of course.
Question: Do you get the same warranty etc, just as if you bought it directly from SVS
Answer: Yes. My coil recently burned up (full volume at 18Hz...oops), so I contacted them. They asked for proof of purchase and serial number. They offered to pay all shipping for entire unit if I had all original packaging, or ship me a new driver for free (and I replace). Very quick and excellent service!!!!

Answer: Main obvious difference is, the pro model has two ports compared to the single port of the original. Also the pro model can be fine tuned using the svs app. For me main advantage of this is to able to seal the ports with form plugs, select the sealed setting through the app and use it as a sealed sub for music. Pretty much gives you some of the pb3000 and above options in a more affordable pb2000 package.

Answer: For 20A, you have 20A*120V=2400W. Code specifies that a circuit shouldn't handle more than 80% of the load at which it is rated, so 2400*0.8=1920W max. These subs are rated at 800W, so you could run 2 of them on one circuit, but you probably wouldn't want anything else on that circuit...

Question: how can this be 5000watts peak when the rms is 1500watts, shouldnt it be closer to 3000watts peak
Answer: Theoretically speaking, you peak can be 10000 watts. What they are measuring are electrical anomalies. Depending on how a track is mastered, signals can always make electrical equipment do strange readings. The point is if it is audible. RMS tells you the mean throughput. But, when you deal with frequencies of any kind, processors, voltage, response, anomalies can happen. The point for peak is to tell the user when damage could occur. But I doubt peaks are audible on the front end, but the amplifier could be damaged if anomalies continue. Also, to achieve these anomalies the stereo db, volume and sub gains has to be at max.

Answer: Yes just got mine and it says 100-240v , 50-60hz power
Question: How do these compare to something like the JL f113v2? Is it best in it's class or best of all classes
Answer: There is a massive decrease in returns as you get into the Fathoms. A friend from work has 2 Fathoms in a dedicated theater room. They're awesome, no doubt about it. But they dont sound twice as good, or even 20% better. The JL's are super tight and controlled, but the SVS's are also incredibly powerful, loud and deep once you get to the SB 16 Ultra. Saying they're not in the same class is misleading.
Question: Is this good for movies or music, or both
Answer: I use it for both. Typically a sealed box has a little tighter bass with not quite as low frequency range so its a little more preferred by me for music. The SB 16 is so big and powerful it does better than most vented subs, just not quite as good as the PB16 ultra, and I don't have the room for the PB16. I don't care for the PB16 quite as well for music but it does go lower in frequency and for some people they like it better for movies. Its like splitting hairs, if I had the room I'd have a PB16 ultra as well.
Question: How much does the actual unit weigh? Seems that it weighs 122lbs according to product descriptio. I assume this is including the pallet and box

Question: Can you pair this up with sb3000 to compliment the home theater
Answer: Thanks for your question. The PB-3000 is a ported design and the SB-3000 is a sealed design.. They could be both connected by using a Y Adapter but SVS does not recommend using both a ported and sealed sub in the same system. Each design has its own "sonic signature". Either ONE would sound good in a theater system. Using both would result in a somewhat limited cohesive, consistent combined output. (You could use both, no harm driving them). If you have an SB-3000 we can recommend that you add another. World Wide Stereo is 40 years old and a proud authorized SVS dealer.

Question: What is the difference in performance between 13 inch and 16 inch sub
Answer: Thanks for your question. There are many factors that can differentiate the performance between a 13" vs. a 16". Radiating area, enclosure design (ported verses sealed), amplification power, amplifier control, engineering expertise, transient response, driver efficiency, room size, enclosure size, maximum output, to mention only a few. Very generally, considering all the factors, a larger diameter driver will go lower and have higher output, but a smaller driver may have lower distortion and better transient response. Question: Would it be crazy to pair this with a 16" ultra in a custom theater setup i have a open floor plan in my house
Answer: No I actually had it paired with a 16 ultra and it worked great. I eventually sent this back and went with the SB-3000. Truly a remarkable sub. The dual wound voice coil makes it every bit as good as the 4000 at a cheaper price, and its smaller. Check it out..its cleaning up awards this year
Question: Can this be connected wirelessly
Answer: Yes. Absolutely. SVS has a wireless option you can purchase on Amazon and easily install. Also, other manufacturers like Martin Logan also offer wireless options that are all based on a small transmitter that connects to your subwoofer out and then a receiver that connects to your subwoofer's LF input. I hooked mine up using the SVS kit. It took less than 30 minutes.

Answer: No... not sure why you would want to play your phone through a sub woofer... it would sound terrible!
Question: The back doesn't say made in prc (china). is it made in the us
Answer: I don't know. The SVS company is located in Ohio and I think the parts are manufactured in the US but assembled in China. However, I don't know that for a fact. What I do know is that, dollar for dollar you cannot buy a better subwoofer. I have the SB Pro 2000 and the SB 3000 and they both rock the house second to none.
