User questions & answers

Question: how long is the cable
Answer: I've not actually done this as I have a different novation device for this, but as this device's buttons are assignable, the answer is yes. Depending on your DAW's compatibility with this device though, you might find yourself needing to do a good bit of device registration customization. For instance I use Studio One and there was not a direct device match in it's available profile. I can use the keyboard and some of the knobs as a default midi device, but have to customize the device profile to assign all of the functions. Something to be aware of.
Question: Would these pair well with the dragonfly red dac/amp
Answer: Hi Amin, It has higher quality components, as well as full RGB pads. - Pixel Pro Audio
Question: Can the balanced cable be used with an onkyo dp-x
Answer: No, it does not have speakers, and does not create sound on its own. It is a MIDI controller, not a synth. It needs to be plugged into a computer, or a tablet, running music software. I use it with Ableton Live on a Mac, and it works with Animoog on the iPad.
Question: Would the LG V30 power these well without a amp
Answer: Novation doesn't make one directly, but there are after market cases that would work.If this was helpful, please consider purchasing from us on Amazon. We can help with support after the sale as well. We have it in stock and ready to ship. - Pixel Pro Audio

User questions & answers

Question: Will i get a good frequency response from using these on a onkyo a/v receiver without any eq? my use is to route my tv audio via toslink to my onkyo
Answer: Microphone is pretty good. Callers on the other end of the line have been able to hear me with out any issues.
Question: Do i need a amp for these headphones
Answer: It says it is around-ear, however, I had to send these back because they were very obviously On-Ear headphones. I have small ears and these hardly touch my head, 95% of the pads are on my ears just like an on-ear headphone. I have the HD598's and they are very large - they don't touch my ears at all. I've had some around-ear headphones that are on the small size and barely clip the top or the lobes - This is not what's happening with these HD 4.40 BT - They are literally just sitting completely on my ears like an on-ear model would. I even had to check the box to make sure they didn't send me an on-ear model - but nope - the box says 'Around-Ear'. Definitely not. Sent these back and just grabbed a second pair of HD598's, but this time the closed-back version and I'm much happier. You can't go wrong with the HD598's.
Question: Can I use these for voice recording
Answer: it is a problem with a lot of bluetooth headphones and iphones. Here is an apple discussion about it https://discussions.apple.com/thread/7532276?start=0&tstart=0
Question: How do 300 sound compared to hd
Answer: The opening itself is 2.4" going across vertically and 1.47" hoizontally. The cup's thickness is 0.8"

HD 300 PRO Professional monitoring headset series

Capable of locating everything. Reproducing every detail. Staying precise when it comes to both fine subtleties and maximum sound pressure levels: the newly developed acoustic system in the HD 300 PRO enables neutral, delicate sound reproduction. The high level of wearing comfort and efficient ambient noise attenuation ensure that nothing will disrupt your concentration.

Did you know? The HD 300 PRO headphones are manufactured in Ireland.

Viscoelastic Earpads

The design represents a smart combination of wearing comfort and ambient noise attenuation. To achieve this, we have designed the acoustic unit to be more isolated than a monitoring set has ever been. Even after sessions lasting several hours, you will detect only its sound – not its weight.

Viscoelastic earpads and specially sealed acoustic elements provide efficient shielding against external noise. A high level of wearing comfort is ensured by optimum pressure distribution and a recess for the fontanelle. Structure borne noise is filtered out through a coiled cable directly by the earpiece.

Active Gard: Smart protection

Available on the HD 300 PROtect and HMD 300-XQ-2 models, Active Gard technology does not simply switch off at peak levels above 110 dB but reduces signals that are too loud down to a safe level. Other design elements also protect the user’s concentration. For example, the maximum shielding of ambient noise and a sound pattern that is everything you could want when it comes to intelligibility, differentiation or resolution. The ergonomic design guarantees that, even after hours of work, only one thing ‘carries weight’: the sound.

BMD 404 microphone

The acoustic elements of the HMD 300 PRO-XQ-2 have been systematically adjusted for maximum intelligibility, even in demanding environments. This is ensured by highly sensitive transducers with precision diaphragms, which reproduce the input signals in a crystal clear manner, free from distortion.

For the clear transmission of speech, a supercardioid, dynamic microphone is used. It is guaranteed to generate a detailed sound which can be relied on even in the loudest of environments. Includes wind and pop screen.

Cables Included!

Due to our established modular concept the cables of the cable 26-II series are compatible

  • HD 300 PRO // HD 300 PROtect include a 1.5 meter cable with 3.5mm jack and 1/4" adapter jack
  • HMD 300-XQ-2 include a straight copper cable with coiled segment to eliminate structure born noise. Reinforced with Aramid for improved durability, and softer shield for greater flexibility. XLR-3 connector and 1/4” jack plug with gold plated contacts

Professionally precise

The acoustics of the HD 300 PRO series are systematically tailored to the requirements of professional use. Its linear frequency response provides a neutral, high-resolution sound. With its highly sensitive transducers and precision diaphragms, the HD 300 PRO series achieves a phenomenal depth of detail which it reproduces – even at maximum volumes – in a crystal clear manner without distortions.

Measuring the truth

Distortion, wobbling motions and partial vibrations of the diaphragm have been reduced to a minimum. Together with highly sensitive transducers, this construction guarantees powerful and distortion-free reproduction even at high sound pressure levels. Not to mention the recalculated air volumes in front of the ear. The HD 300 PRO series gives the sound a remarkably natural, three-dimensional quality.

As meticulous as you

Capable of locating everything. Reproducing every detail. Staying precise when it comes to both fine subtleties and maximum sound pressure levels: the newly developed acoustic system in the HD 300 PRO series enables neutral, delicate sound reproduction. The high level of wearing comfort and efficient ambient noise attenuation ensure that nothing will disrupt your concentration.

User questions & answers

Question: Can any recommend an amp for these? i was thinking of getting the objective 2 but if anyone else has a better one please tell me. p.s. i'm on a budget
Answer: I powered the HD599s with my LG-G4 smartphone, an Acer Chromebook R-13 (excellent headphone section for a laptop), a Schiit Modi 2 Uber/ Vali 2 (Genalex Gold Lion 6922 tube) stack that I use at work (I also used a Schiit Magni 2 Uber with the Magni 2 Uber), and a Schiit Bifrost Multibit/Valhalla 2 (Genalex Gold Lion 6922 tubes)stack I have at home (I also used a Schiit Asgard 2 with the Bifrost). I did/do not apply any equalization or effects when I listen. Like all the higher end Sennheiser headphones, the HD599s improved noticeably as the driving components improved. After a lot of listening to the 598s and 599s I concluded that they both sounded best when run through my Bifrost/Asgard 2 stack (The Modi 2U/ Magni 2U pairing was also excellent), so this is how I listened when doing my analysis. Like most lower impedance headphones, they both seem to prefer solid state amps to OTL tube amps, but they did pair well with the Vali 2 (a hybrid tube amp) as well. I know the O2 is a brighter amp (and solid state) and would probably pair quite we with these.
Question: How is the bass on these headphones? Does it effect the mids/highs at all
Answer: While these aren't "bass head" headphones, they have noticeably more bass than their predecessor the HD 598s. I always found the HD 598s to be a little "bass light", where the HD 599s have a much richer sound. The HD 599's are more musical where the HD 598s are more analytical. Depending on the track and your listening level there may be some noticeable intermodulation distortion where the bass frequencies will distort the mids and highs. On Deadmau5's new track "Let Go" the effect is very noticeable when you turn them up (and not all that loud). Playing the same track on my HD 600s, HD 650s, and HD 700s does NOT result in this distortion. It isn't that the bass is distorting, it just interferes with the mids and highs. These HD 599s are my daily driver (at work) and I REALLY like them. They are a far more versatile than the HD 598s, they sound fantastic, and I don't regret the purchase at all. At work I run them on a Schiit Modi 2 Uber/Magni 2 Uber stack and the pairing with the HD 599s is excellent. The highs are also better on the HD 599s than the HD 598s (which struggled with "Sh" and "F" sounds).
Question: Can you use these on a phone
Answer: I do So everyday at work. No external DAC or Preamp, and its just an iPhone 6.
Question: How do these compare to the 598s
Answer: I think the sound is tighter, the base is slightly more pronounced, again, tighter with some snap but not boom box silliness. The sound is more focused as if you were close to the stage and not several rows back. The soundstage or separation is very close to the 98 but not that noticeable unless you're very observant. The build is better, and these phones will not have to be handled like rice paper or egg shells. Overall, just a better headphone, really. It is said, by many, the 599 shares some values present in the Senn 600 with its clinical clarity and separation of instruments present. The highs are well rounded, not sharp or shrill. The midrange presence is very solid, and not released. These are not V sounding phones like your M50 Audio Technica. To me, those phones are offensive. The V sound is pronounced base, kind of extreme, and ditto for the offensive treble while the mids are not really projected. The Senn is the opposite, a very balanced headphone in all respects, with wonderful separation, clarity, and build. It is a great all around jack of all trades headphone. That is, TV movies sound really good with these and music, well, I like them better for the focus and presence compared to the 598. Hope this helps. As far as the 598, those are cheaper if you buy the black model. And the 558 sounds a lot like them, and even cheaper if money is an issue. You may also, for a few dollars more, look into the Shure 1440 headphones. They are within affordable range, just as good as the 599 in every way, but do not have that dark and sometimes veiled sound as the Senn does.

Question: How much do they weigh? How long can you wear these before getting a hotspot on your head
Answer: My head is not very sensitive, so I have no problem wearing these for a couple hours at a time. I've never worn them longer than that.

Answer: Yes, these are totally open-back headphones. Everyone in the room will be able to hear what you are listening to. Do not use these in public as it would be very rude. On the flip side, if you are alone in your room or something they are amazing sounding and benefit from being open-back.

User questions & answers

Question: Will the left/right volume control unit work with Bluetooth headphones with only one cord? Or only with wired phones with dual cords
Answer: The headphones have a standard cord and plug which is accepted by the volume unit.
Question: if i plug directly to a receiver can others listen while i,m using headphones
Answer: This is not a headphone issue. I plug it into an amplifier with a button which let me turn on and of the speaker sound even when the head phone is plugged in. My amplifier is connected directly to the cable box so that I can hear the sound of shows without even turning on the TV (just turn on the cable box).
Question: how do you hook up sennheiser head phones to a TV
Answer: If you are still using a "tube" TV then it should have a headphone jack on the front, however, if you have a newer flat TV that doesn't have a headphone jack, then you likely have the red/white audio plugs-ins on the side or back of your new flat TV, then you could buy 2 x RCA Male, 1 x 3.5mm Stereo Female, Y-Cable 6-Inch adapter - see link to: http://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Stereo-Female-Y-Cable-6-Inch/dp/B000I23TTE/ref=pd_sim_e_2?ie=UTF8&refRID=0RBHNQYGB7BWNDNQFHRZ, and see if that works. Alternatively, you can see if your "receiver" has a headphone jack. We bought the Sennheiser corded 65 TV headphones for my mother who still used a "tube" TV which had a headphone jack on the front of her TV so it was not so complicated. I just looked at our flat TVs and they don't have a headphone jack on the front or side, but our separate "receiver" - which is older technology - does have a headphone jack. I haven't been using the Sennheiser 65 headphones for TV as we didn't think too much of the sound quality and ended up trying it with our computer headphone jack, but then the long wired cord which has the sound controller failed and have since thrown that part away, which was a nice feature when watching movies on the computer was to easily control the sound using the sound controller on the headphones. For our flat TVs we use the wireless Sennheiser 120s, which the charger/communicator plugs into the back of the TV via the audio jacks on the back of the TV. Also, if you are thinking of buying the Sennheisers for an older adult, as I mentioned, the sound wasn't loud enough for us and certainly not for an elderly person who is hard of hearing, and you have to worry about the "tripping" hazard with the wire across the room, otherwise the volume controller was a nice feature.
Question: How long is the cable linking the headset to the TV
Answer: cable is 17 ft. The headset lead wire connecting to that cable is approx 30 inches

Question: How many stages of height adjustment is available on each side of the speakers ? (Is it symmetrical on both sides
Answer: Amazon seems to be cross post this on different aftershokz products. The aftershokz aeroplex definitely will not fit a large head. My head is 7 1/4 and the bone conduction part wants to rest in the ear canal where an earbud would go instead of in front of the ear on the cheekbone where its supposed to be.

Answer: SOLUTION TO LOUD BEEP iPhone: Click Settings (that gear thing), then ... Click Sounds & Haptics, then ... Click Headphone Safety Now turn on Reduce Loud Sounds Move slider and experiment. I moved slider to “85 decibels as loud as heavy traffic” and this was perfect for me. Ok to thumbs up and move this to top Android has the same setting but different menu system, so look for it. Question: If I pair these with a 19.95 Sony Walkman tape player from ebay will that be ironic enough to get me in with the hipsters
Answer: There is no way for and end user to change the beep volume. Supposedly, Aftershockz is aware of this. Their "R & D department is "working on this" and a "product of lower beep sound" will be "introduced to the production line" and "the volume of the sound will drop by 3dB". (Source: A contact us / support request email exchange with Aftershockz in JAN 2021. No indication of which model or when this improvement will be introduced, but I am hoping soon and that they tell us when it happens). If I remember correctly, the beeps on my older Trekz Titanium were a lot quieter. The loudness of beeps on my recently purchased (Jan 2021) Aeropex Mini is very jarring and almost painful if I am wearing ear plugs or in a quiet environment. I find that loud beeps aren't as bad if I am not wearing ear plugs, but definitely annoying and a bit uncomfortable. In my opinion, this is a SERIOUSLY BAD DESIGN decision by Aftershockz. This has CHANGED my view of the Aeropex / Aeropex Mini from a really AMAZING, NEARLY PERFECT product, to something that I am SERIOUSLY CONSIDERING RETURNING. (Since language settings can be changed by the end user, I think Aftershockz should seriously consider a programming a setting where you can mute these beeps for those sensitive to loud or abrupt sounds.) (NOTE: I tried lowering & muting my ring tone and adjusting max volume settings on my phone per other commenter's suggestions, but this has not had any effect on the loudness of the headset button beeps. I am not using an iPhone though.)

Sennheiser HD 800 S

The audiophile headphones all others are measured against, the HD 800 S doesn’t just raise the ceiling for critical listening—it catapults right through it. The HD 800 S is assembled at Sennheiser's state-of-the-art facility in Germany so you can explore your entire music collection from the inside out.

The Exploration of Sound

The HD 800 S demonstrates over seven decades of audio expertise, redefining the critical listening experience. Sennheiser's goal was to provide acoustics so immersive that you the lines between playback and reality were erased. The signature sound of the HD 800 S is possible because of the synergy of every world-class component.

Around-the-Ear

Luxuriously soft earpads rest around the ear for long-term comfort.

Open Earcups

Experience the breathtaking sound of a vented earcup that lets soundwaves expand naturally.

Wired

Comes with cables for connecting to singled ended 1/4-inch (6.3mm) and balanced 4.4mm Pentaconn outputs such as headphone amplifiers, A/V receivers, audio interfaces and more.

It Has A Ring To It

The heart of the HD 800 S and its striking sound is the 56mm Ring Radiator transducer. It leverages the air displacement of a large speaker diaphragm without losing the rigidity of a smaller one. The result is hyper fast response for superb detail across the entire frequency range. The headphone’s vibration damping chassis and inert headband ensure that what you put into the HD 800 S is precisely what you will get out of it, too.

Each transducer is manufactured, tested, and measured to the tightest tolerance for the most dependable performance out of the box. Even the 40mm voice coil is wound in-house to ensure the shape and consistency is held to the highest standard. Each HD 800 S includes the frequency response plot unique to those perfectly matched transducers, sparing no resource to help you retrieve the most critical details from every corner of your music collection.

Behind the Mask

Achieving acoustics that are true to the source also requires management of compounding frequency clusters that produce undesirable masking effects. Sennheiser integrated a patented frequency absorber to reduce resonances that hide extraordinary musical details in plain sight. Further, the transducer system is mounted in a vibration damping chassis using aerospace-grade materials. As a result the problematic energy peaks of lower frequencies are controlled to unveil the purity your hi-fi setup is capable of.

Let’s take a look at the specifications...

  • Frequency response: 4 – 51,000 Hz
  • Impedance: 300 Ohms
