The 2TB, 3TB and 4TB WD Blacks have 3, 4 and 5 platters, not just one and look nothing like the 1TB Black which looks like a WD Blue clone. WD's blog manager is arguing that it "meets the specification" which has conveniently been neglected by WD and their vendors to list (but not on NewEgg which has the throughput of the1TB WD Black listed on a WD round up of the Black Series. Customers are saying they do NOT meet their expectation and that the extended warranty is not a comfort since what they wanted was a "high-performance" drive, not a reduced performance drive with better endurance.I would want to see a drive that looked like its family, not like another product line. There is nothing wrong with the older model, I have both in use n my network, but the x300 is better suited for a busy digital media server especially if your server/workstation has multiple core processors. I like the X300 the only drawback (if you want to call it that) is tha te X300 is a little bit on the noisy side due t the read/write head technology used. It is not objectionable in my opinion. Both drives have been dependable. |

| Answer: | The USB Forum is confusing as hell. Are you ready? Okay: USB 3.0 is SuperSpeed, which would make it too easy to determine which USB is which, so of course they don't use that name. So it's called 3.0, except now it's not. 3.0 and 3.1 gen 1 are the same thing, same speed and all (5gbps). Then you have USB 3.1 gen 2. It's a genuine upgrade over gen 1 speed, but PSYCH! Name swap again! Now 3.1 is 3.2 gen 1, and 3.2 gen 2, and now there is a new one called 3.2 gen 2 by 2! It's maddening! Anyway, in summary, yes this drive is USB 3.0, or 3.1 gen 1, or 3.2 gen 1, whichever you wanna call it. |

The USB ports on the console will now recognize external hard drives up to 2TB per slot, and two 2TB hard drives can be used simultaneously giving you 4TB total if you need it. It took ten years, but Microsoft finally listened to the masses. |

| Answer: | I think the short answer to your question is the Xbox will find it automatically. The long answer is that during initial configuration of the drive (when you connect it the first time) it will ask you if you want to use this to install games to. After this, the Xbox manages the drive and knows where it has installed the games. If you want to clear up space on the internal drive, you can move games previously installed on it from the internal drive to the external drive. You will do this through the Xbox manage storage feature, so the Xbox will know where it installed the game. |

| Answer: | Don't listen to the individual that tells you SSDs are a waste of time. Since you are looking at fast boot times, I would go with an SSD with at least 240-50GB of space for your OS. Generally, once the OS loads, it doesn't do too much. I would then buy a Hybrid or plattered drive (regular HD) to install and run all of your programs/games. No one really knows the full length of time on an SSD drive. It's just like a rewritable DVD/CD. Eventually, it will die. The Seagate hybrid is a good choice but not the 2.5 version. It spins at 5400rpm where the 3.5 spins at 7200rmp. Of course if cash isn't a problem and you backup regularly, you could get another larger SSD drive for all of you programs. |

There are no official Sony brand HDD's for PS4, other then the 1 inside the machine when you buy it. You have to go to the Playstation website to download a small file and put it on a Thumb drive since this HDD does not have the PS4 OS info on them. | Answer: | No; nothing is forever. Solid state disks have a maximum number of writes, referred to as TBW (terrabytes written) which are typically 65 to 150 TBW. SanDisk estimates about 65-80 TBW depending on device. Putting this in perspective, TBW stands for Terabytes Written. It can also be referred to as “endurance”. It is a metric indicated by hardware manufactures to state how many terabytes could be written to the solid state disk (SSD) during it’s lifetime. The TBW metric is an important one to look out for when buying an SSD as it indicates how long a drive can be operational and useful before needing to replace it with a new one. For example, if your drive has a capacity of 100 GB's, and the drive was rated at 100 TBW, then this means that the drive can be fully rewritten 1024 times! (1 Terabyte = 1024 Gigabytes). Reading is forever, but writing is the limit... Solution: plan to replace the SSD when you approach the capacity metric for TBW... use the "old" drive as a read only archive. I used to do this for databases - put the data which is static on the SSD's for fast access and the dynamic data on the hard drives. The TBW rates are constantly improving and someday may be infinite, but we're definitely not at that point. |

| Answer: | This drive will almost certainly not fit your laptop. It is 15mm high and as such it is really intended for a desktop or server. Laptops are normally limited to 9mm or 12.5 in a few instances. I am not aware of any laptops that can take a 15mm high drive. |

| Answer: | First of all it's not a SSD, it's a HDD ... Second, this is not the right place to put this question. There's lot's of forums and discussion boards on the Tivo Bolt. At a first guess this drive should work, there are reports for 8GB capacity HDDs working ... but you can have surprises due to the Tivo firmware limitations. Best practice in your case is get a list of certified HDDs for Tivo. Still, for unlisted items listen to discussion boards and get the exact model claimed to work. |
