Answer:	I don't know what you would consider soft or firm. It is very comfortable. I sleep with mine wrapped around by neck every night for needed neck bone support. I forget it is there.

Answer:	The pillow works best for back and side sleeping in my opinion. However, this pillow will not prevent you from rolling onto your back.

Answer:	I don't know if it is recommended. I am 65 and use it. I think it is helpful if you have back pain or are sitting in chairs that don't have much lumbar support. It helps me and is quite comfortable.

Answer:	there’s no indication (via tag) that iit has fire retardants but with it being fabric, i don’t think it is.
