User questions & answers

Question: Does this modem have five portholes and does it take my comcast phone
Answer: Yes
Question: does this modem have a time warner cable phone port
Answer: The switch will not respond to snmp query. It only has a packet counters on its web management page.
Question: Is this modem an upgrade to 5341J? What is the difference between them
Answer: This switch is unmanaged and most likely won't function the way you're going to want. There may be some uplift if you can configure LAGG in the Synology software and let the NAS handle it. I would recommend going to a 2.5gb nic, if capable and just run it to one of the 2.5gb ports on the switch.
Question: Does this works with Comcast and Windows

User questions & answers

Question: does this modem have a phone jack? I have comcast triple play n I need a modem with a phone jack so my phone service can work. Thanks in advance
Answer: why r the LED's burning out they should last 100,000 hours. poor design to high a voltage going to them Gerry Jenkins 12/14/2015 someone dinking 2 mush spiked tea china...think sew. they should all b recalled for fix.
Question: Does this modem work well with COX
Answer: Every other month, I clean both of my fountains. I take all the little marbles out and scrub them down. I clean the inside and outside of it as well. I replace everything, fill it about 3/4 with water, adding some water solutions as well to keep it from getting scummy. (Fountec: Tough Algae Controller and Protec: Strong Surface Protection) then after I have it plugged in, I pour the rest of the water in, placing the crystal ball on top until it catches and starts to flow beautifully! Also, make sure the filter tab is moved to the highest flow position. I remember the first time I cleaned it. I accidentally moved that first time and it didn't flow well. Once I figured that out, no more issues! Hope this helps. I have had both my fountains for almost 3 years now and absolutely LOVE them! If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask :)
Question: Sorry if redundant - My question is "Will it work WITHOUT the need for routing?" I don't want/need routers or wifi just a direct to PC blue cable ethernet connection. Arioshea's question was phrased... "need" a router. My question would be - "Will it work WITHOUT the need for routing?" I thought Simon Williams' answe
Answer: Mine does that if the water is to low. It is not a good sign if there is enough water Pump could be going
Question: does it have built in wifi
Answer: You're able to modify how much of a flowing water sound it will make by the amount of rocks you put at the base of the "waterfall". The only time it will make a "pump sound" is when it is low on water. It is a very pleasant water feature. I've had more for about a year with no issues and it runs for at least several hours per day.

Zoom 8x4 Cable Modem, 343 Mbps DOCSIS 3.0, Model 5345, Certified by Comcast XFINITY, Charter Spectrum, Time Warner Cable and Other Service Providers

Based on 406 reviews Check latest price

Product description

The Zoom Model 5345 is a 343 Mbps cable modem certified for money-saving own-your-own cable modem programs by Comcast XFINITY, Time Warner Cable, and other leading cable service providers. Charter Spectrum approved. Owning a certified own-your-own modem eliminates modem rental charges that are typically $8 to $10 dollars per month. The Model 5345 Gigabit (10-100-1000 Mbps) Ethernet port connects to your Windows or Macintosh computer, router, wireless access point, HomePlug adapter, or other Ethernet-enabled device. When used with a router, the high speed Internet service can be shared with multiple devices. The number of channels supported by a cable modem is the primary indicator of a modem's top speed. This modem is 8x4, which supports eight channels for downloads, and four channels for uploads. Eight channels for data downloads make this modem up to twice as fast as competing modems that support only four channels. Because this 8x4 modem uses the cable network more efficiently, average download speeds can be faster, even for service speeds below the modem's top speed of 343 Mbps. A Full-Band Capture Digital Tuner lets service providers deliver faster, more reliable Internet. The 5345 is certified by CableLabs to support the latest DOCSIS 3.0 standard plus DOCSIS 2.0 and 1.1 for use with older cable systems. IPv6 and IPv4 are supported for powerful, flexible network addressing. With its easy installation, high speed, compact size, and extensively tested compatibility, the Model 5345 is the perfect choice for almost any cable modem user. The Model 5345 has been tested and certified by CableLabs to work with nearly all U.S. cable services. The Zoom 5345 is covered by a two year warranty and quality technical support by Zoom Telephonics, a Boston based company founded in 1977.

User questions & answers

Question: I am thinking of replacing my Comcast issued Modem/Router with Zoom 5350. We will use it for internet TV (Roku)...Will this help in streaming? Comcast modem is very slow and unreliable
Answer: No it doesn't. However, I have a Ooma box (internet phone) that plugs into the back of the Cable Modem (standard Ethernet jack) and it works great. The back of the 5352 modem has a power jack, cable in, and 4 Ethernet out ports.
Question: time warner
Answer: You hook this up by the coaxial port.
Question: vpn
Answer: The sb6121 only has speeds of 172 Mbps download and up to 131 Mbps upload. This model has up to 343 Mbps download and 131 Mbps upload.
Question: I am having problems with this combo. Can I disconnect the Router part of this
Answer: It depends on your needs. Needs are based on the number of devices connected and the size of area you are trying to cover. I would highly recommend a mesh network unless your home is 1200sqft or smaller. A centrally located router could cover that. The biggest problem is getting the 5ghz frequency to reach throughout the home. The 5ghz gives you speeds over 30mbps on wireless devices. 5ghz will reach roughly 40ft in all directions from your access point (ap). A mesh system gives you multiple ap and thus more area covered by the 5ghz.

User questions & answers

Question: WILL MY OOMA PHONE WORK WITH THIS ZOOM MODEM
Answer: The 8x doesn't refer to the number of devices you can connect to it. You only want to connect one device and that's your WiFi router. You wireless router determines how many devices can be connect based on the available number of ip addresses on the wireless device. The 8x refers to the speed of Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS). Its informing you on the speed of DOCSIS 2.0 vs the newer DOCSIS 3.0. Ultimately your speed will be determined by how much you want to pay your internet provider. And you can determine how many devices you want to connect by the router you choose.
Question: WHAT IS THE RANGE
Answer: If you only need to have one computer hooked up to the internet you do not need a router. If you want to hook up more than one computer or if you want a wireless network, you will need to buy the appropriate router. My internet speed went from 20mb to 100mb(the speed I pay extra for). TWC has also stopped charging me $8.00 a month for the use of their inadequate equipment.
Question: I have digital phone also, does the 5352 have a phone jack to plug into
Answer: No you can't. You would be plugging a modem into a modem. The Zoom input is expecting a straight DSL/phone connection, not input from another modem. You need to just buy a standard router without the modem built in. They are cheaper anyway.
Question: Do you hook up to it by coaxial or Ethernet cable
Answer: I have used zoom modems for years and have excellent luck with the unit. You may want to double check your VPI and VCI settings. Here is a Zooms customer help site. zoom.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/846Good luck

Question: Quick start quide says it doesn't have wifi capability or router. so, can i get to xfinitywifi wirelessly or not
Answer: Model MB7621 is a bridge modem, or a Cable modem without a built in WiFi router. You can either purchase an all in one (modem with the built in WiFi router) such as a Motorola MG7700, or purchase a a WiFi router to connect to the MB7621.

Answer: It works really well with my new time capsule! Details on time capsule here: http://www.apple.com/airport-time-capsule/
Question: Is this compatible with Time-Warner cable and will this work with Google Voice? Can i use the Netgear 7550 for its router
Answer: I live in Queens New York, and I have this modem for a few months with time warner cable . I got 100 Mbps with no issues using the Asus Wireless Router .That's what I paid for, I don't know if we the modem can take the 200 or 300 Mbps. It will work with Google voice
Question: Any advice on the steps to set it up? Is the serial number necessary? (I am having Comcast
Answer: I have Comcast and the SN is necessary to get it setup (call them). Mine had the SN blacked out so I had to plug it into a computer, then use a browser to see the SN by logging into the admin screen (192.168.0.1)
Question: will this work with comcast (xfinity) hi speed internet & vonage home phone? thanks
Answer: I bought it specifically to replace the comcast supplied modem after I terminated my landline. It is supposed to work with comcast hi speed internet, but it performed poorly. I returned it and replaced it with the equivalent Motorola model which has been far superior in performance (cost about $20-30 more.) I suspect that this model works better with satelite, but this is merely speculation. I would not recommend it.

Question: Can this be used with the imac desktop
Answer: My original batteries finally ran out after six months. Most of the time I didn't even bother turning the switch off at night. Amazing battery life!
Question: Mouse quit working at 7 months old. Is there any type of warranty on this
Answer: Yup, the physical power switch is on the bottom of the device, along with a Bluetooth on/off switch and the Bluetrack sensor.
Question: This question was asked previously, but the answers were contradictory. Does the wheel of the mouse tilt right and left for horizontal scrolling
Answer: It is a Bluetooth mouse. I not sure if its compatible with a MAC. If your MAC has a Bluetooth, it should would work. It has a bunch of special functions that are designed to work with windows 8 that will not work with your MAC.
Question: is there back button on the mouse
Answer: No. This mouse is strictly blue tooth and does not come with a USB receiver. If your PC is blue tooth capable, go to control panel, then click on "Add Device" and look for USB Devices. There's a small button under the mouse to put it in "discover" mode for pairing up. Once it's paired, your PC remembers it. I like not having that USB piece poking out the side of my laptop, and since I only have one USB port, it gets saved for memory sticks.
