Answer: I wear the same size in these as I wear in regular Birkenstocks.

Answer: The bottom of the flip flop doesn’t get slippery on walking surfaces. The footbed does get a little slick if your feet are wet however because of the design of the footbed you still feel stable. I’d love to order another pair as they ar so comfortable.

Answer: Hi, I'm also a 11,5 in American shoe size. I buy German size 43 in Birkenstock shoes and sandals because I've learned that when I would wear a 42 my toes would hit the front end of the sandal which is uncomfortable.
