The micro usb is able to very easily become bent in the connector and it breaks the connection with the wiring. I would suggest these are only purchased for stationary objects, but one of my employees damaged two of them simply using his tablet while plugged in and bumping his belly into the connection. I believe the wires/end fittings are actually too strong for the tiny usb connectors.

Answer:	Without knowing actual model numbers it is impossible to tell you what will work for your situation.Not many dvr receivers (I am assuming that is what you are referring to as "cable box") have video/audio INPUT, only OUTPUT.No matter what this will only provide audio, not video.Generally speaking if you have a home theater receiver with HDMi then everything should be connected to that (doesn't sound like this is what you have).Otherwise you should have everything connected to your TV via HDMI, and if you have one of those Blu-Ray surround systems then connect your TV via toslink optical cable or 2-wire RCA cable depending on what your inputs/outputs are.

Answer:	There are two specs for this kind of audio--optical and coaxial. The optical terminal is flat on three sides and curved on the fourth side. If both your TV and cable box have such inputs, this cable will work fine (although this particular one is only 3 feet long, I think). Coax inputs look more like normal RCA inputs (round)-if your digital connectors are coax this cable won't work for you. Best I can tell you without seeing your setup!
