When I speak about weight, light, medium, and heavy I am talking about the material thickness, and design support: not the numeric weight. Although JanSport offers a lifetime manufacture's warranty the extra strain on this particular lightweight backpack may cause discomfort to the wearer. You may want to look at the JanSport City View or JanSport Big Student styles. These backpacks will easily handle a 14 - 15 inch laptop.

Answer:	We do not advise dry erase markers to be used on matte finish laminates. We suggest you use Vis-à-Vis marker, this marker are mainly for use on overhead projectors, transparencies and laminated calendars.

Answer:	Wet erase markers are made with water soluble dyes, are intended to be used on laminated surfaces, and can be removed with a damp cloth. In contrast to this, dry erase markers are not water soluble, are intended for use on non-porous materials, such as porcelain or glass, and are not washable. Dry erase ink contains pigments and release agents. When these small particles of color come in contact with clothing fibers they become trapped in the fiber and do not come out source: Expo Markers. However all is not lost. Here's how to get dry erase stains out of your clothing.Place several paper towels on a table. Place the stained clothing, stain side down, on the towels. The stain should be directly on top of the paper towels.Apply rubbing alcohol around the stained area that you see from the back of the clothing, using a sponge. Then dab alcohol straight onto the stain, again from the back of the garment, using a sponge.Continue rubbing the stain, changing the paper towels as they get wet. Question:	how deep is the section for the laptop? I have a protective sleeve for my chromebk. How much does the laptop section take away from the other sections
Answer:	I have put a full size 15" HP in it with extra room to spare. The measurements I got are: 16 3/4" top of zipper to bottom of bag x 11 3/4" side to side x 3" front to back. The 3" measurement sort of collapses when you dont use the laptop compartment,so it doesn't take much space away from the other compartments.

Answer:	For sure. My son is in high school and this has the most interior room of any he’s ever had. It holds his laptop in its own back padded pocket, a gazillion folders and notebooks and textbooks in another main pocket, and even his basketball high tops and lunch in the third big section. Water bottle goes in side holder, and there are like 3 or 4 small zipper pockets in the front to hold alllllll the other things. It’s shocking how compact it looks from the outside too. And apparently Jansport is super popular again among teenagers; another plus. Highly recommend.

Answer:	Mine doesn’t make any noise.
Question:	Regarding the waterproofing -- how does it hold up in the rain? Do the contents stay dry
Answer:	I have only used this backpack in light rain. Yes, the contents stayed dry. Cannot attest to how it would perform in heavy or long term rain.
Question:	Will this qualify as "Carry On" luggage on an airplane trip
Answer:	My husband is frequently on work travel and takes a "real" carry-on luggage (older version of this one: http://amzn.com/B008M6ZCF2) w/this backpack strapped to it as his "personal item." He's never been asked to check-in either on US carriers, and the closest call he had was on an international airline which felt he was somewhat abusing that policy. IOW, he's fairly certain the backpack on its own as a carry-on to totally legit. YMMV if it's completely stuffed however, as it becomes rather thick. US carry-on size policy is 22" x 14" x 9" or 56" x 36" x 23" cm while this backpack's dimensions are: 21" x 14" x 10" or 53 x 35 x 25 cm.
Question:	Is it waterproof
Answer:	It is made of waterproof fabric that can take a spill or light to medium rain and keep items inside however in a heavy rain for prolonged period water will leak through the seams. If you want fully waterproof you'll need to look for a pack made with fully sealed welded seams for probably at least double the price of this pack. I'm not sure if there are any wheeled packs out there made fully waterproof.

Answer:	I work with kids as a teacher so here's my best shot at your question: you could possibly take the backpack to a store that does monograms and have your child's name monogrammed on the front side. It might be a little costly but DEFINITELY would make it stand out as his/hers. Or, you could purchase a name tag or name keyring and attach to the zipper. You could even make a handmade name tag for that matter. Other ideas might be to attach other personal items to the zipper to make it stand out from other kids' backpacks. Good luck!
Question:	Has anyone used this for carry on? Does it meet size requirements? It's hard to be sure based on dimensions
Answer:	I use this as my carry on all the time, and it's fine. If you stuff it too full it may have to go in the overhead bin, but I've had it full of books, a laptop, a coat, and a purse (along with other odds and ends) and fit it under the seat in front of me just fine.

Answer:	Not inside the big pocket, no. But there is a small zippered pocket on the outside of the main compartment and also small unzippered pockets inside the front zippered compartment that can be used for small items.
