But it is a good starting point if he wishes to buy additional parts and equipment at his own pace in order to afford it all, it can be a substantial initial investment depending on what quality of products he wants to begin with, the best isn't always necessary. But yes it is a good quality press. |

| Answer: | I have the Hornady Powder Cop. It's ok and it's easy to get at up. However, you have to look at every time you advance the press. If you aren't looking at it, a case that is under/over charged and not know!!! I like Hornady products. I own many of them. I would recommend the RCBS powder LockOut die. It not only accurately detects an under/over charged case it prevents a progressive press from advancing in the event of an under or over charged case. So you don't need to look at the lockout die every pull of the lever. |

| Answer: | It should work with both no problem. The stem is reversible for use with smaller or larger calibers. I use it on .223 and 300 blackout rifle cases, 9mm, 45 acp, 45 colt and 7.62x39 rifle cases. It is not caliber specific. It has a large usable depth range. I assume it would have no problems on the 50ae since you can set the die depth using the threads, then adjust the o-ring on the stem to get the proper depth of your powder charge. | Answer: | This kit is how I began my education. Love it! 1) I did eventually upgrade the scale to one that measured half a grain, but no need to yet. 2) You will need dies. Buy the .308 custom carbide die set. 3) You should also consider the Hornady manual case trimmer, too. 4) I started cleaning cases with a vibrating tumbler but to keep dust down eventually went with a rotating tumbler with stainless steel pins. Good people on reloading forums will carry you far. P.S. The rifle powder rotor came with mine. |
