Answer:	It has a cord, I gave it to my brother so I don't know if it also has a battery compartment. I will say I gave it away because you have to use the timer and the longest you can set it to be on is 1 hour. I needed something that would be on continuous throughout the night.

Answer:	The instructions I have do cover it, but it is a bit obtuse. You have to read it VERY carefully. Let's assume we are setting Alarm 1. After you have the set the alarm time, to turn on the alarm follow the instructions for "Selecting the Alarm Sound.", Press the Alarm 1 button 1 time to activate the buzzer alarm, 2 times to activate the radio, or 3 times to activate the sounds. One more press gives you "No Ring." The bell symbol should be in the upper left of the screen when the alarm is on.When the alarm sounds, to cancel it, press the Alarm 1 button one time.This was far to complicated for me, so I still use my regular alarm. I only use the Conair for the sounds for sleep.
