It is a bit tight (I have a muscular build also), but I think that's appropriate for the types of really heavy leg presses I am using it for. I think Large might be a little too big for you since your knee size is almost exactly the same as mine. So far, I'm very happy with the quality of the product.

Answer:	I surf in some sketchy dirty waters. Occasionally I use a bit of dish soap and warm water. Agitate the water/ brace then air dry. Always air dry each day or they’ll get nasty from the moisture

Answer:	Don't know how to measure that but I think they are great. I am 75 with both knee caps worn out, nstill working 2-3 days a week. I ordered the small, my knee measured 16.5" around. Fit is very good , not too tight or too loose. Stays in place, well worth the price. I have used the sleeve the orthopedic pa gave me, too stiff, too tight and the seam is uncomfortable. I like this sleeve by far the best.

Answer:	Not thin like a compression tee shirt. Best guesstimate is the body is about 1/16” thick and a little thicker at the end seams were the gripping is. I live in Florida and an avid golfer and really like this particular band after trying several other brands. Don’t slip down, very comfortable and really keeps my knee caps from moving around during my swing.
