Depending on your baby's weight at birth and body shape, your baby may fit into this cloth diaper for a few weeks or a few months. We are brand new to cloth diapering with our 6 week old (only 8.5 lb currently), and find that a few AIOs are nice to have when you are exhausted or if baby is sleeping for one long (i.e. 4-6 hr, if you're lucky!) stretch once per day. When newborns go through a dozen+ diapers per day (our baby goes through at least 18 per day), a full stash of newborn AIOs would be incredibly expensive (if we had unlimited funds, this would be my husband's preference). We are loving prefolds with covers... Thirsties Size 1 covers sized down to fit our baby even when she was still 7 lbs. It's more work, but so much more affordable! Admittedly, we started with disposables when she was still 6 lbs, as a transition into parenthood. I'm fairly certain the Thirsties Duo Cover would have worked for her then as well. |
