• You must first take all the steps necessary to upgrade Resident Services from a tent to a building to unlock the campsite's amiibo functionality. 

Important Notes: 

• After unlock the campsite's amiibo functionality, run over to the Nook Stop kiosk and interact with it. He'll tell you that you can now use Animal Crossing character amiibo to invite more villagers to the island.select "invite a Camper" while interacting with the kiosk and then scan the amiibo card you want to use.
• Right after scanning the amiibo, run over to the campsite and you'll find that the camper you invited has set up a tent. Walk into the tent and talk with them. They're going to play hard to get and will ask you to build them some furniture. Craft the requested item and then give it to them. This process will take a few days since you'll need to invite them to the island at least twice and craft at least two pieces of furniture that they request before they're willing to move in.
• If there is no home available for them, you will need to build one. Your island can hold up to 10 villagers in total. At some point, you'll need to force a villager to move out if you want to add any more. But don't worry. If you already have 10 villagers and you're trying to use amiibo to invite another, you'll be able to choose who gets booted off the island.
