Question:	Are these waterproof? Can they be attached to a kayak using duct tape and will they remain lit if wet
Answer:	Chem lights have been around for decades. These are commonly used for night dives, kayaks & canoes, in rain,camping, emergency lights, marker lights, etc. I always attached mine with a short cord to an air tank valve. Chem lights are a sealed plastic tube with a small, fragile glass tube inside. You bend the plastic tube enough to break the glass combining the chemicals. The plastic tube will not break or be cut by the glass.
Question:	Want to put them in emergency kits (car, camp, pack, bug out bag) and want to know if they'll stay any fresher, or last longer if I vacuumed sealed
Answer:	Vacuum sealing will not extend storage life as the cyalume chemical is already sealed in an air tight tube which prevents leakage and exposure to air. Temperature is a much more important factor. Heat will decrease their shelf life so I'd consider storing them in a cool place.

Answer:	I was in a pitch black room door closed and no windows when I tried it out and I was able to find my locker and see the combination numbers on my lock. I thought it was pretty good. I'm sure you'd be able to see some emergency numbers in your phone book with this product. Hope this helped.

Answer:	I bought a box Feburary 2018. Expiration date on package say December 2022. That means they were manufactured 2 months prior to my purchase. That's very new when you consider time to produce, package, and ship it, plus delivery time to warehouse, shelf time prior to sale, and shipping to me. Answer:	They are NOT reusable. They are a chemical Cyalume light source. The flexible body requires only a bend to break the inner glass capsule and release its activator. Shake and the chemicals mix creating a cool light source. There is no heat involved and can be carried in a pocket. The thick body prevents any leakage. Research the technology and you will find that they were first invented as a project for the government trying to recreate the bioluminescent qualities of a firefly. This is the result. I have been using them for years and over the forty years or so I have never had a problem.

My remaining, previously unopened packet has 14 blue (they are clear until activated), 15 yellow, 15 green, 14 pink, 14 orange, and 28 red and purple combined (it is hard to tell until they are activated which are which). The previous packets had similar distributions, though I didn't get an exact count.

Answer:	By it's self no, but you can get the housing that is military style that you insert this light into that you can close the light source off.

Answer:	No string, just the chem light. It does have a hook/loop at the end by which you can hang or tie it to a cord or rope.
Question:	Has anyone used a red, green, and blue at the same time to get a bright white light
Answer:	My guess is using three whites will create greater luminance. But interesting to find out.
Question:	What color is best for power outage
Answer:	The easiest color for the eyes to focus on or with is yellow light in the dark. Any movement under yellow light draws immediate attention and all objects under yellow light have what is called hard line definition. Since yellow is oft time used in lighting the street and parking lots; people are used to seeing yellow and will normally ignore/dismiss that as being the normal natural light - using other colors, especially green, who indicate something out of the ordinary alerting them to your presence. If in emergency you want to be noticed - I carry several pads of steel wool - I use a ten foot length of copper wire, a one inch stainless steel ball bearing - I place the ball bearing wrapped within a portion of a stretched out pad of steel wool and secure it with the copper wire to lock it in place. I then set the far end of the steel wool on fire and then extend the remaining copper wire out the remainder length whipping it then around in a great circle - the steel wool moving swiftly through the air explodes in tremendous light as the steel receiving fresh oxygen produces an incredible amount of sparks and burn. That burn will make a visible circle that can be seen out to thirty five miles and more and from that distance will still draw attention because the donut of light shape is unique. The burn time is usually around thirty seconds and sometimes more. As signaling device it is best used with a radio - alerting others to watch for the sudden appearance of very brilliant light and of course its donut shape. BTW dependent of how fast you swing the device the burn will appear to be about six feet thick of solid light - protect your eyes at all times with glasses or goggles. You want to stop before the burn releases the ball bearing, a rock will do if necessary and the light will cease immediately but be careful as the steel wool will still be burning only at a much slower rate. This device used for emergency situations will bring immediate attention; my second caution when using this type of device use it only over clear level ground that has no vegetation so no fires can be started. Once they have your location and direction of travel; for proximity location I use a mil-spec grade flashlight of 1,000 lumens and over its top I mount a standard medicine orange pill bottle that flashes in SOS or continuous flash mode. The light from that flashlight can be seen from as far away as six or seven miles across level ground or high ground location. I used to have a radio that also broadcast continuous SOS code that alerts others to you situation but also functions as a radio source that can be used for direction device pinpointing source to your exact location. It had also a talk over function that overrode the code if voice contact was made.
