When he plays with the car it's as if he doesn't have any fine motor limitations.

Answer:	I know this is an older question, but our 18 month old figured out the remote & car within a week. I think this toy is absolutely appropriate & fun for 18 months & up.

Answer:	Yes the remote needs 2 AA batteries and the car uses 3 AA batteries. I wasn't sure so I opened it up to look.

Answer:	It does easily transfer from tile to carpet if the carpet is not thick. The only problem my nephew has encountered is it does not go well in the grass. My sister has hard wood floors with throw rugs, and it transfers easily, however she has a push carpet in the bedrooms and it does not work well on that.
