Using the dilators, is something you need to continue to do, and not stop for periods of time. I learned that, after not doing as often as I should have. However, starting with the smallest dilator, and working up to a size you feel comfortable with, and is not painful, worked excellent for me and my husband. I contacted the Mayo Clinic prior to using "dilators," to ask for other options, and they highly recommended using the dilators, and I am so glad they did. Hope this helps.
